I have always been a huge fan of Dark Shadows, a gothic soap opera
that used to show every afternoon on ABC back in the 60's. There is
going to be a movie with Johnny Depp and word is, Tim Burton will direct.

My mother's a big fan of it, and every once in a while I'll watch it with her (she has at least some of it on DVD). I've never seen the 90's remake. If Tim Burton and Johnny Depp are involved in a modern movie of it, than it should turn out to be a pretty good movie. I haven't seen a movie with one or both of them involved that wasn't good.

My wife and I have started Netflixing the original 1966 series. I had no idea there were so many episodes -- over 400! Guess I should've expected it, though, seeing as it ran 5 days a week for 5 seasons. We're 27 episodes in and, really, NOTHING MUCH HAS HAPPENED. No vampire activity at all yet.

    And still, it's oddly compelling.

Yes I remember the 90's remake and I was upset when NBC cancelled it
after 12 episodes. But I heard NBC regret it. The only thing I did'nt like
about the remake is the series was filmed in Beverly Hills, CA. Although
it was suppose to be in Maine, but you can see a couple of palm trees
    in one episode.

Right now you are watching "Dark Shadows-The Beginning". The vampire
    will appear in episode #210.

Yeah I liked that show when I was watching it back in the 90's. I never
seen the very last episode, but I read after three seasons, they killed
    off the character.

The movie will be release on May 11, 2012. I'm surprise there is no trailer yet.

I've been thinking about this movie, and something worries me. It's just over two months till it comes out in theaters, and we still don't even have a teaser for it. You would think that a Tim Burton movie starring Johnny Depp would have some advertising by now...or is it just me getting myself worked up over nothing?

Apparently Depp grew up watching the series and was a huge fan of it. Not sure about Burton, but the series fits his mold. There are pictures out there with Depp and the surviving original cast. You can tell how much he's enjoying himself.

The movie will have four original cast members making a cameo appearance. I don't think this movie will have Quentin Collins, if there will be a sequel.

No it's far too early for Quentin. I've been watching the original series starting with the Barnabas episodes I'm 5 or 6 volumes in (4 DVD's per Volume) and am no where close to Quentin yet. The first movie and probably the second(if there is one)will be all about Barnabas.

I have a lot of love for the original series - my mom and I used to watch it together. She introduced me to it after we both became fans of Buffy. She watched it when she was a kid.

We always used to say Depp would do a fantastic job with Barnabas if they made a modern movie.....both of us liked the idea and would talk about it whenever we watched the show.

I think I'm going to be eating my words in May.

This movie looks absolutely awful to me. From every overdone picture I've seen and interview I've read, this seems to be nothing but an out right parody of the original show.
