Here's something I whipped up in my deep fryer. I've been experimenting with dyeing in it, and this little bot turned out great!

Dyeing in a deep fryer has got to be the easiest thing ever. Just disassemble, drop parts in water/dye/acetone, set to about 160 degrees, and walk away for a couple of hours.

    That looks pretty good.

You weren't worried about warping/melting in a deep fryer? Or 160 degrees just isn't enough to make it happen? I'm always afraid of that happening with dying.

I have ruined parts in a pot before, but the deep fryer keeps them well above the heating element. At 160 degrees, I just drop in the parts and leave them for a couple of hours. They come out very dark. I'm thinking f doing an entire Animated Dark Retribution set (Swoop, Snarl, and Grimlock).

I might have to try that (I have a stronger interest in dyeing figures than painting, mostly for the sturdiness it gives you, not having to worry about paint chipping). Any recommendations for a particular fryer? :)

I got the $49 Rival at Wal-Mart. Extra wide for those big pieces :)

I've been dyeing to try this myself! :lol Get it? I mean c'mon, I kill me!:lol

Seriously though, a very cool concept.:thumb  I would like to try dyeing at some point, I've done it with HotWheels cars so I have the itch to do a Deluxe Ani. Prime into a Nemesis Prime!
