I'm not sure how many out there on this site are fans of movie soundtracks, but I'll give it a try:

Us audiophiles out there know that along with the dreaded and guaranteed to be crappy "music from and inspired by" soundtrack (no doubt featuring yet another Linkin Park song), we'll hopefully also get a new score soundtrack for Dark of the Moon. IMDB says that Steve Jablonsky will be returning to score.

Personally, I loved the score from movie one. In my opinion, it's one of the best action movie scores to come out in recent years. Revenge of the Fallen I felt was kind of disappointing, and definitely lacking a lot of the best music that was in the film (e.g. The music playing while finding Jetfire, Meg's resurrection music, the music playing during Prime's satellite call in the Autobot hangar, etc.).

I'm definitely hoping that with the new film, they'll bring back the staccato chanting Decepticon theme, as I thought that was one of the most interesting and easily adaptable scores from the first film (My personal favorite iteration of it was at the end of "Sam on the Roof").

Anyone else have any hopes or expectations for the new score?

I hate to be a stick in the mud, but the score and the soundtrack are normally two diffrerent things. But we know what you mean, haha.

I usually do refer to them as score soundtracks. they are a part of the soundtrack of the film.

Yep, yep and yep... I am grateful to have 98% of the score from movie 1 and can only hope to someday have the complete score to ROTF... so MANY of the best bits (IMO) were left off of the extremely disappointing 44 minute disc (I'm sorry, but that's retarded when you can have up to 80 minutes on a CD and the first score was roughly 60 minutes!!!). Amongst the ones you mentioned, I'd love to get access to the cues that underscore Megs and Ze Doctor torturing Sam and the ensuing chase to the forest, the music that underscores the twins battle with Devestator and some others. A few cues have leaked (3 to be exact) that weren't on the disc, so hopefully more will follow!

Again, I agree... I LOVED the Decepticon motif from movie 1, and can't help but wonder why Jablonsky all but abandoned it for ROTF?? The new Decepticon theme wasn't bad, but seemed more like a precursor to the original one, as opposed to an extension of it.

I've been meaning to look around the interwebs for a clean copy of that, or at least find out more about it.

Yeah, as I said, I was wicked disappointed when I got the score from RotF. And the old Con theme definitely needs a revival. It just oozed darkness and evil in my opinion. And you're right, the parts used in movie 2 seemed more like the old theme was based of it, and not the other way around. The parts they used were like, more similar to the music that plays when Barricade appears in front of Mikaela's scooter during the bike chase (hope that's not too obscure a reference haha). And I actually forgot about the chase music before the forest battle. That was some cool sounding stuff.

There was a petition online to have the full RotF score released, but last time I looked it stalled out at like 30 signatures before the goal. I messaged a moderator to try and get it front paged on here, and get some support from other TF fans, but I never heard back.

I love both the score and soundtrack from the first two movies, so I'm definitely going to pick up both the DOTM score and soundtrack as soon as they become available.

I'm listening to the soundtrack of the first movie again.

I'd forgotten how impressive it was. Hopefully the third will live up to it.

I fucking loved the first score. It was amazing.

The second was lesser so. Felt like a half-assed rehash of the first score, mixed with that Linkin Park song.

I hope DOTM is more original, and redirects the score back to what it was with the first film.

Both scores are excellent. Arrival to Earth, Autobots, Scorponok, NEST, Forest Battle, Precious Cargo, I Claim Your Sun, and No Sacrifice, No Victory are absolutely stellar. I expect just as good of a score from Jablonsky this time around.

I expect no less of what the last two amazing scores were like.
No matter how many times I hear that piece in the teaser for DOTM, I always get chills.

I'd love to see a three disc release from all three movies on vinyl. Even though I have the previous two scores digitally, I'd pre order it today.
