The retcons are still disappointing, and the G1 touches to the designs are a bit out of place, but I must say that other then that the writing and art are pretty damn good.

If I didn't know better, I'd think G1 Shockwave must have taken the wrong Space Bridge and ended up in this universe on accident.

Looking at this does make me miss Megatron's original design. He was so powerful in this form.

Defiance itself retconed the Prequel comic so nothing new. These comics are ultimately non-canon in terms of continuity with the movies.

It's more or less Canon unless stated otherwise by a higher source of Canon, Star Wars works under this, you can write any Expanded Universe book about anything, but if George Lucas put something contradictory in the movies or in the Clone Wars series or something he is Personally involved in, then you are overruled.

the art in this looks bitching! the writing's pretty solid too. seems much better than 'Rising Storm'. I abhor Carlos Magno's art work

The purple protoform thats flying reminds me of Cyclonus. And I still don't know what G1 Shocky is doing there.. Did they not see the leaked toy pics? :D

7 page preview? Try 4; the covers and the little credits page don't count -_-

Good writing and art, but as mentioned earlier, I'm not a fan of some of the G1-styled retconnings, either. Let this universe be its own thing already.

Now THIS is a movie comic I'm interested in. Rising Storm looks like shit.

Transformers works with practically limitless parallel universes though, that pretty much flow in and out of synch with each other. So practically anything can be canon in some universe unless painstakingly specified to be in the same exact universe and as such is contradicting. (More confusingly, it can even be canon in some universe for a while, but get changed because of what happens in that universe or some other universe)

I don't think star wars does much of that (but I wouldn't know if it did).

    Personal canon note:
Personally I love the paralell universe thing, because to me that can fix anything from prequel comics to toy inaccuracies if one happens to be irked by such. Plus I love alternity.

WOW, this post got super nerdy.

Looks great so far. Elita looks better than her RoTF design.

Who's the purple guy that died?

It's nice to see that some people at IDW can in fact draw the movie style well.
