My take on realistic movie accurate DOTM Laserbeak.
My daughter Kalyn has this toy too so she sat by me and did her own by my examples and instructions as I worked on this.
She's just 8 years old and hers came out almost just like this!

Must be something about 8-year old girls. My daughter loves this figure, too.

I like the realism here. Very well done!

This is my daughter, Kalyn's figure that she 100% painted on her own.
Now if half of my new future commission requests are for HER to do figure paint jobs, I might get a little upset. :)  No doubt she'd do it for a new Zhu Zhu pet or Bakugan too.

Could really happen in a few years man, unless she does what I expect and turns into a normal girl that goes to Bieber shows and talks on the phone 18 hours a day about boahs. I'm gonna hate boahs...

Can you post some sort of instructions on how you did this.

I'd like to paint mine the same (if possible)

I reeeeeeeeally suck at painting toys.

plus, I don't own or know how to use Airbrushes.

Sure man. Its easy enough for my 8 year old daughter, but some practice in the techniques does help the turnout a lot. Still, if she can do what she did, follow these instructions and you will improve the figure greatly.

    1. Put masking tape over the front aircraft nose part with the tribal face design, so you don't paint over it. Spread out Quasarbeak's wings, legs, and open all parts and hinges so your base spray coat gets good coverage.
    2. Put your hand in a plastic bag or wear gloves to hold Laserqueef by the tip of his tail, then spray him evenly all over with Krylon Fusion gloss black spray paint. Thin even coats, and go back to hit anything you missed in about 10 minutes. Hang him up to dry by the part you were holding using tape or a wall hook.
    3. After at least 5 hours, go back and move his parts carefully around to expose any parts that did not get painted in the black base coat. Put the gloves back on, hold him by the taped off cockpit this time, and spray the areas you missed in round 1.
    4. I recommend giving him at least 24 hours to dry before doing this step.
Use a small but wide model painting brush and silver model paint (I used Model masters steel) to dry brush his entire body. This means dab the brush in the paint, rub almost all of the paint back off on a paper towel, then rub the brush lightly over everything. The paint catches all raised edges, giving Laserbutt a realistic worn metallic look. Use a game or movie reference pic to see where you should go extra heavy on the dry brushing. Wings especially should be more silvery. Remove the masking tape and dry brush the edges on it so it all matches up.
    5. Using a very thin and fairly fine tipped brush with red paint, dry brush the middle area of the turbine fans on Looserbeak's wings. Do not hit the edges as you turn the fan from the inside and dry brush however many layers of red over the middle. make sure the red fades toward the edges. On mine I did the red dry brushing from the inner circle of the fans to a bit past the middle.
    6. Use a toothpick or rapier with tiny dabs of the red paint on the tip to paint in the eyes, then drybrush a fade on the side feathers of his butt as seen on mine.

Hope that helps. Its one of the easier figure to greatly improve and a great gateway into customizing.
