While it's an alright figure, there's a few niggling details you'd think they would have sorted 3rd time around.

This is just one suggestion of how they could've approached part of the transformation:




It's a pretty crude demonstration, but it seems to me there's some relatively simple things they could've done to move towards a more accurate transformation.

If Ironhide gets 2 new molds, I think there's a reasonable chance Ratchet may get an additional upgrade. If so, there's a few things I want to see them get right once and for all.

He needs paint. But that's an easy fix.

I'll be picking this one up. NEST Ratchet's robot mode was definitely more detailed, so this one's bot mode does feel a bit more simplistic. But the vehicle mode makes up for it.

And, like I said. Some paint.  

 

Compared to some of the other DotM figs I've seen, it doesn't look terrible. But the lack of paint apps and the fact that it's so small will keep me from wasting the money.

 

This would be a Ratchet I would keep in vehicle mode.  

 

Overall I think I like this mold from what I see here. The simple fact that he has his blade weapon makes it worth the while for me. However, with Ratchet being one of my favorite characters... Especially in TF Prime... I am still hoping and praying like a little child that we eventually get a HA Ratchet or a decent redesign voyager Ratchet. With all the mold changes to Prime and Ironhide on the voyager scale, I am amazed that Ratchet still hasn't gotten a much more screen accurate mold.

I am going to go cry in the corner now until I get my way.

The DOTM figures look great so far, but they're so small they just won't be worth the pricetag once they come out.

 

If the toy is good, who cares about the size? Are you buying your toys by weight/volume?

 

I wish I could find one - I don't think they ever came to Northern Va and now they're going on Ebay for ridiculous amounts. Fer example:

I think with some Radicon work, he could be made to look pretty cool.

 

Same here - I'd much rather have the blade by itself - maybe stored in alt mode on top of the spare tire...

 

Looks good. It's a shame he is not a voyager.
