    TFW Gallery Goodness

I recently managed to score an early release Dark of the Moon Cyberverse Soundwave. The first of three Soundwaves to see release at mass retail based on the Mercedes SLS AMG design, how does this Soundwave measure up?

    Vehicle Mode

Soundwave's care mode is a nicely detailed little Mercedes SLS AMG. There's some great detail, such as the metallic blue on the windows and the neatly sculpted little Mercedes badge on the grill. You've got painted headlights and breaklights... All in all, a decent little car mode.

    Robot Mode

After a simple transformation, you have Soundwave in robot mode. He's very gray in this mode - not a lot of new colour comes out, other than a few bits of black on the neck, shoulders and thighs. The design is pretty intricately done, and the head is pretty nice and sharp. Looks good considering the size.

Poseability is quite simple, you have shoulders and hips, rotating upper legs, and sideways movement at the knees. Nothing spectacular, but functional. The arms and hips are ball jointed.

My one criticism with this toy is probably a make or break for most of you - it is a bit hard to balance. When I bring the arm up, the weight shifts and the toy tends to fall forwards. If I lean him back a bit I can get balance, but then Soundwave looks like he's been punched, not very menacing.

It's a great pocket money toy though, and a great sculpt. Worth picking up for the extremely reasonable pricepoint, especially if you tend to go for "play" rather than "display".

Don't forget to check out the gallery for loads more photos!

I leave you now with what you all came here to see - Cyberverse Soundwave riding on Deluxe Laserbeak!

For those who are wondering, the gun is from Action Master Soundwave. Action Master guns seem to have the right peg size for Cyberverse toys, worth remembering that one.

Soundwave's DotM bot mode is a lot worse than the RotF one articulation-wise, but this alt is much better.

Wish some of that butt kibble went onto his arms to give the illusion of bulk there instead, but not a total dealbreaker.

The lack of knees is a bit disappointing, but not anough for me to not scour the stores until I find one. Loves me some Legion figures!

I'd take this over the HA figure any day.

Now, are we ever going to get a Legends-sized styled Laserbeak?

Just a little ice blue paint on the insides of his arms and he'll be closer to perfect. I really love Cyberverse, Commanders and Legends scale, so this is a must buy for me.

Me too ! I recently posted this pic in my collections thread, but I guess it's appropriate here too.

Soundwave finds that being the last to arrive isn't always a good thing ...

^ Haha, nice photo. I'm sure Soundwave could fit in that space with a little careful parking. XD It's not like Hasbro gave him any silver paint to scratch up. *rimshot*

Neat little figure! Definitely getting two of him. Nicely proportioned bot mode (even if he does have junk in the trunk lol) with an awesome alt mode!

Found Soundwave at TRU! He's one of my favorite Legends/Legion carformers, along with Roadbuster who I found at the same time. His transformation is just fun, and has an innovative way of turning the tiny back end into the whole legs.

Not sure if this is already common knowledge but I thought I'd throw it out there; there appears to be two versions of this guy. The difference lies in the detail on the front grill. There's one that has a smooth front grill like in Sol Fury's review and also one that has some extra molded detail in the grill. Compare this Soundwave to Sol Fury's on the first page.

From the few that I've seen it appears that the version with the smooth grill is less common, but that's just a guess really, heh.

    Great picture!

I just found mine at Target. Pretty neat, articulation is on par with Roadbuster, which is one of my favorite Legion figures. This is one of the few figures I have which can do the splits while keeping his feet level. Or maybe it's the only one.

Either way, pretty cool. Which his larger deluxe and HA plastics were molded in the same dark gray.

Are there really 2 versions? Mine is with the detailed grill. I cannot compare as i bought mine on ebay and this figure is not in stores yet in Australia. But anyway he is a neat figure.

Just found this guy at Walmart. Pretty cool little Legion figure; alt-mode's nice, transformations new and interesting, great head sculpt and the lack of shiny isn't as noticeable as on the big 'uns 'cause of the darker plastic. Only problem is I wish the skirt could rotate up to be a backpack instead to give him the bulk he had in the move, but in no way a deal breaker. Definitely worth picking up if you see him.
