Dario Marianelli to Score ‘Transformers’ Spinoff ‘Bumblebee’ | Film Music Reporter

Edit: I actually haven't heard of most of the movies he's scored. The only one I've seen is Paddington 2, which is a very good movie. Funny, I actually watched that movie less than two weeks ago. If I had known the same guy would be doing Bumblebee's soundtrack, I would have payed extra close attention to the score.

Overall I'm really glad to have a new composer onboard, lets hope he can bring a great 80's vibe to the movie!

Michael Bay brought in the composer he usually work with (Steve Jablonsky) and Travis Knight brought with him the composer he worked with (Dario Marianelli). We should have seen this coming.

Welcome to the family, Mr. Marianelli.

BTW, his score on Kubo And The Two Strings is just divine. An amazing piece of work. I'm sure that we will not be disappointed. :)

    Interesting.

Too bad they couldn't get Vince to do some pieces, or at least a theme song.

It's entirely possible that they could do something like that, they brought in John Williams to create a theme for the Han Solo movie, even though they have a different composer doing the rest of the score.

That much being said, I'm kind of glad they got someone besides Vince DiCola to do the score. I love DiCola's work, but I think it's good to bring in fresh people to the brand.

I hope he uses some cues from the previous films.

probably the wrong choices to get me excited. I don\'t like either of those songs. So I will have to research a bit more to see if I like him or not. As of right now, it\'s a step down in composers for me.

Good for Knight! It looks like he got to bring in his own team of people and actually make his own movie without much interference. As in, this is more his installment in a massive series with its own story, while still connecting with the other movies.

I look forward to seeing the changes in the character looks, the atmosphere, and a more down-to-earth tone.

Yeah, I really hope Paramount let Travis Knight make the movie he wanted. From everything we've seen so far, it's looks like he had a lot of creative control. I'm a believer that some studio input isn't bad here and there, but overall I want to see Knight's vision.

I agree. In my general belief, I like when a crew works on one series (for a reasonable time) to keep the story succinct. But in this case, since this is a spin-off that is intended to be a different tone with different story goals and focus, a new interpretation is needed. And maybe a slightly different asthetic approach to set itself apart while honoring where it came from.

In this case, I do believe that TK was able to put his own mark on the franchise, and we will see what that looks like soon enough.

That said, I also think it is great that he is marketing it with his own business, as that is something he is comfortable with and that likely reaches a new audience for marketing purposes.

I feel he should use the theme bumblebee from 07 but with an 80s style
