I really hope someone buys it at that price. Gives me more hope that I'll be able to retire after selling my collection!!!

Maybe if it actually were graded it would be worth half that. I wonder why AFA rejected it. The usual reason is double-taping, but who knows..

its funny how he beats around the bush that its not graded, then asks when was the last time you've seen a graded fort max. I'm not pissed by his high priced auctions(i think they are rather funny), but damn, he's wasting his time listing it for this high. all in all, its still a really nice box and it does look sharp inside the acrylic case.

getting toys put in acrylic boxes can get expensive, especially if a grade doesnt accompany them(cause then there really isnt any turn around). depending on how fast this guy wanted his fort max back from afa, it couldve cost over $300 to get it put in the case.

Do these people make their prices based on toy price guides like Toyfare or something?

If so, I don't think price guides like that would be useful, since bidders can usually determine well enough how much they're willing to bid for it (or rather how much it's worth to people).

Just rest in the knowledge that he's getting charged higher fees for having such a high BIN price!

This is kind of OT, but I had a dream the other night that an AFA case fell apart on me. Looking at this gigantic, relatively thin, acrylic case reminded me of it. I wonder if there are any examples of this ever happening. If not, they must use some REALLY strong glue.

They do. I've experience it 2 or 3 times. But I'm refering to the actual outer case, not the little rails.

Yep. But if you want an AFA-style case that can be opened, though, AFA now sells sliding bottom cases. They're pretty nice, and they generally cost a little less than actual grading costs. If you want rails inside the case to hold the item in place, though, you have to ask them specifically for it. But no extra cost or anything for rails.
