In other words, they get a place near where they can find someone to victimize again to satisfy their sick desires. I want all child molesters and rapists locked away FOREVER, and we as a society should be far more vocal about this than we are. Ideally, I'd want them put to death, as in put them on a huge rusty boat, sail it into the Pacific, then sick it. That's about as close to getting them to feel the same way their victims do. I feel really sorry for that man's daughter. She must be going through a lot of emotional trauma from something like this. As for what the man himself did, I suppose it isn't good to rejoice at anyone's death, but his intentions were commendably noble.

He'll have to be convicted for murdering the other guy, at the end of the day Self defence cannot be used effectively as a defence because the proscecutor will maintain (correctly) that he could have stopped the other man without killing him. Having said that, what he could do is plea temporary insanity due the the circumstances, and in that situation no jury in their right mind would ever convict him. Personally I'd do the exact same thing myself.

No jury in Texas will convict him. That's doubly true if there's reasonable doubt that he intended to kill the guy. The law in Texas is exceedingly generous about self defence, and the populace generally likes it that way. This case is exactly why that's so.
