Heya team! As soon as I saw the pics of this toy before he was released I knew I wanted to re-paint him into Cyclonus. It was a pretty straightfoward re-paint...he was primed, then hand painted with acrylics. The biggest challenge was his head, as I wanted it to be different from Mindwipes, so I've come up with 2 different options thus far, and I remain on the lookout for a different head mold that I can use. The first set of pics is with Mindwipes original head modified to accept G1 Cyclonus's face. The second set is obviously ROTF Soundwave's head with a couple of minor modifications. I DO like Soundwaves noggin due to it being very ROTF in style, but it is a little too small for the body...I do like the other head because of its scale, but it doesn't seem quite ROTF enough... Nice repaint, very smooth job. I really like what you did. The colours are especially great. Do you have any alt mode pics? As for the heads, I like the "Cyclonus" head more than the ROTF Soundwave. The cyclonus head looks fine with that body, even if it doesn't look very ROTFish.
that is truly cool! i never would have thought of cyclonus, maybe turning mindwipe into soundwave. also i love the colors, very g1-esk!
You know, if you put lines on the cyclonus head under the nose and over the mouth it would look more rotf-ee, or just look at some other rotf toys and make his face more pieces even if you base the face on another toy
How bout this for an ROTF Cyclonus head? It's from a Spawn figure, although I forgot what his name is. And since Spawn figures aren't that popular anymore to the best of my knowledge, it should be pretty cheap if you can track one down.
Thanks alot everyone! The more I look at him standing on my desk, the more the G1 style head grows on me. It will be a little bit before I post up the Alt. mode since I like to let the paint sit for a day or so before messing with it too much. I'm also going to have to order some repros for it I think.
Looks great! Nice idea. I do like the first head better but the (H)i(GH)con has a good idea with the Spawn head.
Wow this mold makes for a really good looking Cyclonus... Great Work! I really like the G1 style head with that head he would fit well with classics figures. You need to cast that G1 Head for all of us now LOL
Love the colors, and love using the mold for this character; that being said my only quips with it are from a personal standpoint. I agree with you that the Soundwave head is too small which is sad. I dont like the Cyclonus head on that body for some reason. Maybe its just me but that face with the body and the big wings on the arms, to me, and I have no idea why, remind me of the Green Goblin from Spiderman haha. Again, no idea why but thats what Im instantly reminded of haha. anyways I do like this, kudos.
