    Yeah... I know, the picture quality isn't great but I took these in a hurry.

    I just had the old Targetmaster out for some exercise and I was compelled to snap a few quick shots.

    I like Universe Cyclonus better than the original, as Universe Cyclonus is everything G1 Targetmaster Cyclonus vainly tried to be. Ditto for Nightstick.

    Now if they could just come out with more targetmasters...or headmasters...or even Powermasters I'd be happy.

    I think you're pretty much right on... but there is something special about a lot of the G1 figures that the overly refined modern versions don't capture.

    The Universe Cyclonus is much more appealing in robot mode but the in their vehicle modes, I think the G1 figure kicks Universe Cycolus right in the tail pipipe....The G1's vehicle mode is much smoother and a more coherent design.... its really sleek and aesthetically appealing.

    Its a tie in my book... but I adore both of these figures.

    vehicle =g1 win
    robot = uni. 2.0
    the sleek look of the old one as stated above is very nice, but the robot leaves much to be desired, as does the old nightstick, i'd say a tie as well

    I always loved my old TM Cyclonus, I'm sure I'll enjoy Uni Cyclonus just as much, not least becuase he'll actually have Nightstick with him unlike my G1 toy, whose partner has been MIA for over 15 years now!

    :eek:

    Too true.

    I LOVED the targetmasters as a kid and not until recently did it bother me how little some of the Nebulon guys actually looked like guns. The ones with the extended barrels are obviously better in that regard... but they were pretty inconsistent.

    Universe Nightstick is better than G1 Nightstick in absolutely every measure. But that goes without saying.

    That old plane mode is sleek, but yea, the new robot mode takes it.

    I'm not so quick to write off the G1 robot mode though. the face sculpt is fantastic, the color scheme is nice and it really is an interesting looking robot on its own. There's something really clean about it that you will never see in a modern TF.

    you have to wonder what they were thinking with those horns on the head though... they really work and they're interesting but they're just weird...we have been looking at this character model for a couple decades now so they almost look normal.

    The rumors are that the movie toys were really the first TFs that were designed AFTER their cartoon models, right?

    Yep, that's why some of the earliest toys are somwhat inconsistent with the bots on film, since Hasbro had to make the toys off of unfinalized concepts.
