I never knew this...
Meh. I was never particularly big on this aspect of the UK canon.
Or Action Masters and Nucleon for that matter.
As much as Wayward is totally my BFF sistah, I disagree with her interpretation of the comic. The demons weren't there before Primus, they were there because of Primus. Failed attempts at making new life? An early expression of The Swarm? It's not clear, but they are definitely his creations.
Regardless of who came first, they're awesome, and they don't have wngs. AWESOME. Not that wings are bad. Plane wings like on a jet TF are cool.
There. From the mouth of Simon Furman himself.
The thing about Transformers Canon is that it often looks more like a WW1 battlefield than a plot summery for TLotR (including the Silmarillion) or Bleach.
I actually think that's one reason the franchise has survived and fandom has flourished: it can find fans in everything from genderless Marvel G1 to Kissplayers Manga and all the debates that sometimes rage between the extremes.
So very true.
The lack of consistency in the TF canons has become one of the enduring strengths of the property. I think if you surveyed 20 different Transfans, you'd end up with at least a dozen different variations on a "personal" canon. Rather than just mindlessly enforcing some higher authority's decree, Transfans tend to try to fill in the gaps themselves.
Of course, it also leaves a lot of room for debate... which can be good and bad. So very bad.
If you want a good laugh go over to the Bleack Exile forums and read people complain about the anime-only Bounto "filler" arc as not being canon despite the fact that it's both consistent with the overall story line, explains a few things, and is written by the same bloke who is behind it all.
