what type of alt modes do kup, arcee, springer, etc have in tftm? are they cybertronian vehicles? or ordinary vehicles available in 2005 (from a 1986 perspective)?
I think they were all supposed to be "futuristic" earth vehicels. I also think that's why the setting of the movie was in the future. All the human stuff we see has a very futuristic design as well. Spike's Exo-suit, Daniels clothes, Daniels jet-powered hover board. It all seemed to disapear in season 3 though.
I think it was a mix. Rodimus was a futuristic car and I think so was Arcee. Maybe Springer also. But the rest where Cybertronian.
they're supposed to be cybertronian, but they look more like futuristic cars. I never got why cybertronians need wheels...
I think we had this topic less than a month ago..but I guess it's a bit hard for newcomers to keep up with that. Threads are dissappearing fast... I think that the modes are a bit ambiguous: to me they seem to be futuristic Earth modes, but by that time the Autobots had probably lived on Earth long enough to influence human designs to become more Cybertronian in some ways (cars, exosuits).
Or vice versa. It could be that Cybertronian modes in 2005 were a lot more earth influenced. Hell, it could be they're both, cybertronian modes FROM THE FUTURE.
Outside of the cartoon only idea that all Decepticons could fly, TF's without a flying alt mode couldn't fly or hover. In fact most TF's with flying alt modes couldn't fly in bot mode unassisted. So they need wheels to move, not to mention the whole "robots in disguise" thing. It seemed that way in the movie but season 3 has plenty of examples of people living much the same way they did in 1985. More likely the Autobots only shared tech with government bodies like the EDC. Of course that makes the futuristic alt mode that much harder to explain.
