Actually if they want to be a dick about it they can use the classic Volkswagen Beetle since it has been around since 1938.

I think Megatron and Sound wave being Voager class is due to them being roll-play characters. Lets face it, if Megs came out as a Deluxe fans would bitch that the gun mode was too small.

As far as the others go, if they take off and sell like hotcakes at a lumberjac convention, then I couldn't see why Hasbro wouldn't keep the line going as a side line.

Sure they could, but that doesn't seem to be Hasbro's style. After all, this is the same company that tries to never ever attempt to use a name that another company has TM even if there's some loop hole they could use. Hasbro's legal department is very anal retentive and not willing to take even the slightest risk of there being any kind of lawsuit going on.

Now, if Hasbro decided to be so ballsy... Hells Yeah!

Well, what can I say that hasn't already been said?

Wow, just downright amazed about this rumor. I'm willing to believe it's true.

Hot Rod? Yes! If it looks like MEGA-SCF Rodimus but much sturdier and transformable then I will be one happy person. I also hope they do the transformation where his arms swivel around like in the movie!

Grimlock? Excellent! Energon Grimlock makes me shudder in robot mode but the dino mode was pretty nice. Something like that but with a better robot mode will make this a definite buy.

I think I'm most excited about Hot Rod just because he's my favorite character

Megatron as a gun shows that someone at Hasbro has testicles.

    Yes it is. And Voyager=Mega

They only might look similar to the show counterparts. These are new and updated versions of G1 toys. Don't expect the same ol' alt. modes.

I think they are supposed to be showing up in August. Correct?

If you consider a futuristic looking flare gun testicle fodder. At least that's what's been said about the Megatron alt mode by the Botcon goers.

I'm not shocked they got Bumblebee back. They've been chasing that one down pretty ruthlessly for a year or better now. I would be shocked if Mattel let the Hot Rod name expire, since I can see them keeping it alive just to spite Hasbro. Would mean that Trailbreaker & Bluestreak are the last major G1 characters they still needed to recapture, or are their more?

It's possible, judging from recent Alt. releases, that Tracks, Jazz, and Skids (did Alt. Skids say 'Autobot Skids? I can't remember) would be the others.

using the name "Autobot ..." is only a means to hold the specific name, since Jazz & Tracks are considered too generic on their own nowadays.

Hopefully these turn out looking good and having a descent amount of articulation.
Shame Prime is taking up a slot in both size categories.
Wonder how generous they will be with soundwaves minions.
However the true shame with this line is them not making it a full line a g1 redux with the number of unique molds that energon had over all the size categories with an accompanying cartoon would have rocked all kinds of ways.

yeah, like i said earlier in the thred, i'd be pretty surprised if 'Hot Rod' doesn't end up being 'Hot Shot' (since that was the 'identify with the kids' character in Armada nad Cybertron), or as someone later pointed out 'Rodimus' (i kinda doubt they'd go back to that 'Rodimus Major' name they used on the reissues, everyone knew that was lame)

... or just plain Rodimus, as in Energon. Sounds better to me.

Wonder if all announced toys are new molds, or if some are repaints or remolds, Robotmasters-style. It is a "filler" line, after all.

Even if this line sells well, we probably won't see more. This line is too close to the movie debut. I'm not sure they would have time to check the sales and then mass produce a new wave.

No need to worry though. As soon as this line is over, I'm sure their attention will go straight to the toys for the movie. If this movie does really well, and Hasbro is smart, then they'll make a billion versions of every character who starred in it and make every character who had a cameo... get every bang for their buck.
