What is your take on either of these elite units?

Are the CEG essentially the Special Police force of Iacon relics, artifacts and buildings as compared to the Wreckers which appear to be Commando/ Special Force Operators. (even the Bay versions of the Wreckers appeared to be Special Operators)

So what is the difference? Be it your opinion or canon (comics, novels, etc.) lore?

Here's my belief. The Elite Guard position is a huge honor. After a life of training, you protect the most important or sacred items and people in all of Cybertron. The Wreckers are more black ops; they work behind the scenes doing the suicide missions noone else will.
so, both are top of the line positions, but one is very public and respected while the other works behind the scenes.

The Elite Guard is less direct combat and more a rank of honour. Some are obviously trained well, others not so much. It depends on what you've been promoted for it seems. Guys like Jazz are obviously picked for their skills in combat and other fields.

The Wreckers, in Prime, are nothing really special. If Bulkhead and Wheeljack are any indication they're just regular guys with no special talents. The guard deffinately wins out.

Wheeljack is skilled in sword combat though. Bulkhead on the other hand? Just a big, powerful brute.

I'm sure sword combat requires a lot of training, just like any other martial art.

I guess, but smashing things with your face doesn't require alot of training.

    >Wheeljack
    >ooooh badass wrecker over here guys
    >Gets his ass handed to him by Dreadwing
    >Gets his ass handed to him by Soundwave
    >Gets his ass handed to him by Hardshell

    meh.

I'm going to say Elite Guard just because the one so far has added a unique angle as a character while the guys who are wreckers could not be mentioned as wreckers AT ALL and it wouldn't affect the plot and barely the characters. It's just a slapped on label; I see nothing special about Bulkhead and Wheeljack.

    No I guess not. :lol

I'm nicknaming Wheeljack "Hammerhead" from now-on. I don't care how lame it sounds.

Wheeljack never fought Dreadwing, they only got in a shootout. You forgot he beat Makeshift in a duel.

Well, we've seen two Wreckers and a rookie member of the Elite Guard...kinda hard to say EG here. Not saying Smokescreen doesn't bring something to the table, but until/unless they show a seasoned vet who doesn't get blasted/captured/disciplined by his superiors every episode...

well bare in mind we saw a bit of the CEG from the Transformers: The Animated series and again, Bay gives us a glimpse of bad-ass Wreckers in his movies...

    hence, my query.
