    Here's a simple one:

There is no reason at all for Soundwave to have the nose of the jet hanging off of his right arm. Remove it.

It clips very nicely to his ass and won't fall off:

Or you can cut a notch in his backpack and fold it up:

If you're feeling adventurous (I wasn't) you could add a pin so the whole nose section just swivels around from the back to the front for transformation. That's all Hasbro had to do really.... As it stands I don't mind uncliping it and moving it for transformation. A heck of a lot better than hanging from his arm....

As an added bonus I made Soundwave's right hand articulate in case he ever wants to borrow Cybertron Frenzy's sword. :)

well why didn't you explain how ya did the hand? :p  pretty cool, kinda makes you wonder why they didnt' do that if it just meant having the pin in a different location, because that doesnt affect the production cost at all..

The hand was easy. Just take a nail. Cut it to a reeeeeeeal short length.

Cut the fist off of the forearm.

Drill a hole in the forearm.

Drill a hole in the fist.

    Take the forearm apart.

Epoxy the shortened nail into the fist so the head points out.

place the head of the nail into one of the forearm halves.

    Screw the forearm together.

The epoxy holds the fist on.

The head of the nail holds the pin in the forearm.

Since there is no epoxy on the end in the forearm, it can rotate.

is it floppy in any way? I understand that drilling the hole in a proper size would make it tight and not loose, but I have to ask :)

It all depends on getting the hole size right. Too big=floppy. (this is the fist we're talking about, right?)

I've found that if you make the hole too big, our good friend clear nail polish saves the day.

Nice idea. Did you also paint the whole bottom half of Soundwave's head silver? Or is that flash?

Yup. Didn't like the gold faceplace so it's all silver now. I also painted the red on his legs gold.

I was thinking about it... but the more I look at it the more I like the tail fins as one solid color.

... except that it now blocks the Force Chip slot, which keeps Soundwave from being able to eject Laserbeak.

I totally agree that the arm kibble is annoying and should've been eliminated/designed better; the problem is doing that, keeping the Force Chip gimmick, and keeping perfect transformation. Also, avoiding "jet cock" syndrome.

That's EXACTLY how I was going to go about it. What did you use to cut the fist off? I was thinking conventional ways would take too much plastic off...

Exacto makes a fine tooth saw blade to put in their hobby knives. That's what I used. Makes a cut only as thick as an exacto blade.
