Heh, I'm not sure if I'd say I'm on the way to excellence but thanks.

I might get some styrene and put it over the sculpt. Not sure yet.

Nice. Is he still going to be Menasor, or do you plan on making a new character out of him?

Well, I'm actually going to keep the original drill/claw arms so his alt mode will remain intact. I may swap the head because I want to use it for something else. Not entirely sure.

As far as paint goes, I may opt for a black/purple/silver color scheme a la Motormaster and Skywarp. We'll see.

But for the most part, he'd still be Cy Menasor, just with working arms.

I had a thought lastnight about using Bionicle ball joints to connect the drill/claw arms to the back while keeping the new ones in tact. They would be like Doc Ock arms. Thoughts?

Sounds like a cool mod, but yeah, make him all yours. Rename him.

I posted pic of a mechanism that may help make use of the original drill/claw arms. I used parts from a Bionicle figure I had lying around. Thoughts?

Thanks, right now, I'm going to see how I can make the joints strong enough to support the arms.

Okay, well I've continued working on this and I'm still at odds with the new arm mechanism. The problem is the drill/claws are too heavy for the bionicle joints to hold up. So I'm thinking that perhaps I should use a set of arms or legs from a junker since they'd have the joints and mass to the support the arms. Thoughts?

either that, or find something to steal some ratchet joints off of.

Well, another little update, I got a set of those Mega Bloks Neo Shifters at KB Toys yesterday like the one found here (they're on sale btw). Anyway, these work better than the Bionicle ball joints I was using because they're more stable and function similarly to the ratchet joints found in TFs figures. So it'll definitely support the weight of the big arms.

I was wondering about that. Another good source is Lego Knights Kingdom or Exoforce kits; they're good for ratchets too.
