New idea i'm playing with:
Please give me all snips and jabs, all honest critiques wanted
Honestly, it's not doing it for me.
I'm all for revamping G1 without it having to be completely identical, such as the black stripes you added, but this toy in general just doesn't feel like Ironhide.
I don't even think a G1 head would do it.
That said, maybe it would help to add some blue to his chest, and also if you make a Ratchet the same way and stand them beside each other. Ironhide just looks more like Ironhide when standing next to Ratchet
No, sorry, just can't see Ironhide in there, Red Alert is a very distinct look, and it is extremely hard to see the mold as anyone else.
The only Cyb mold I've seen that would work for Ironhide is Armorhide.
Gotta agree with the "I don't see it" sentiments here.
It won't look bad red, it just won't be Ironhide.
I honestly think this idea has potential. Why not remove the black stripes and just go for a straight red paint scheme? I'd also suggest doing a head swap and try modding the head to look like Ironhide. Personally, I love assymetrical robots (RiD for me!), but a hand attachment/mod for the left arm might help as well.
. . . or you could take funkatron's advice and not go with Ironhide and make your own character (which would rock too!).
If you go more maroon and rework the grill a little, he would look a lot like a Dodge Magnum I think. Slap some Dodge emblems on it and it would look great.
I could see it if you change the head and hand
Thanks heaps guys, i really appreciate it
I have also gotten feedback saying he might do well as Trailbreaker...
If you go with Trailbreaker there is a black repaint of him called "Cannonball" I think. It would save you a big step.
Indeed there is, thanks mate
Good idea. Personally I think this mold is great and and any repaint would be awsome, cannonball is already a hit in my book. Your concept shots of Ironhide look great the colours really fit the mold. Good luck.
