Ok this may have been discussed but whatever...

    Besides the fighting on Cybertron....

Is it just me or did we go from a very much "ALIVE", yellowish- greenish world that spouts out random spikes in TF1 to a dark Honey comb world that doesnt seem to have much life AS a planet in DOTM....Thoughts? Or does this look like the same Planet?

Maybe the scene from the first movie was like the lowest levels of the planet which is why it looks different?

The planet is layered. obviously TF1 was on the bottom layer. in the start of DOTM you see everyone walking on the upper levels in the battle scene.

you're right. but sadly, this is another one of those things that did not make sense with the Bay movies. and, yes, that was the best description of movie Cybertron: it looks like a freaking honey comb. what were they thinking??? because Bumblebee is in it?? or maybe because the designs looked like they're insects??? really, work has already been cut for Bay with the design of Cybertron. all he really needed to do was get and watch 'War for Cybertron'. heck he could've gotten some inspiration for his opening sequence with the first trailer for 'War for Cybertron'.

BTW, pretty sure the spikes growing were actually an effect of Prime's hologram.

if the planet was layered in TF1, you could've already seen those honey comb structures in the atmosphere. but they weren't there. the Cybertron in the first movie seemed to at least be still a planet, with some semblance of an atmosphere, with open, spacious skies. the Cybertron in DOTM seems like a claustrophobic world without any atmosphere and essentially just looked like a big-ass Death Star with honeycomb structures criss-crossing the entire planet and i think for some reason they were going for that honeycomb. it was such a lame, dull, forgettable design.

maybe the honey comb thing was a budget saving design.

Was the whole planet honeycombed? I saw it as we were seeing just one part of Cybertron

When we see the pillars transporting Cybertron, you can see what was being bridged was ALL Delicious Honey-Comb!!;)  yum yum no indication of Cybertron in movie 1. Unless Cybertron likes to transform every now and then. but in Movie 1, we pan out to see Megatron and nothing above him...but whatever ill go with it, why not.

On TF, when Optimus shows the race and cube backstory, you see Prime making a hologram, and then the spikes grow. Have you ever played Assassin's Creed 2, or Brotherhood, and seen the Animus effect that makes the objects "unfold" or "grow"? Well, that's basically it.

EDIT: You refferred to them as spikes, I did as Pillars. I now understand the confusion : P

Simple, it was different sides of the planet. One side has a rocky surface with spikes, another side has "honeycomb" platforms. Even G1 Cybertron had different sides.

I think that the planet is in layers, so the honeycomb part is just the upper areas, and the reason you can't see the honeycomb in tf1 is because the clouds in the sky cover most of it.

Obviously, the designers came up with the honeycomb thingy when they were working on DOTM.

The absence of the honeycomb structure in the scene in TF1 maybe explained by the fact that its possible the honeycomb isnt visible in all areas of Cybertron, only in some. Also, in TF1, Cybertron is shown as having weather, as I recall, there are clouds and lightning, so clouds can also hide the honeycomb.

Clearly, the desingers in DOTM forgot all about the scene in TF1...or they just simply ignored it.

I've always had the theory that TF1 showed Megatron on Kaon, executing his enemies, while DOTM showed The Fall of Iacon by the hands of the 'Cons.

maybe TF1 was cybertron in it's prime just after megatron started taking it over so he didn't damage it much
