I don't buy too many autobots, but this one is tempting...

    Hurray for Hasbro!

Hmm... I wish they didn't leave the spoiler unpainted. The painted headlights are kinda disappointing. And I was expecting yellow wings and windshield. But Excellion still looks awesome. I still love the non-G1 flames and the color scheme. I'm totally buying him when he's out.

Wow, what is it with Cybertron and the repaints looking so much better than the originals? At least with Megs/Galvy we saw the second version before the first one reached stores so we had fair warning not to buy puke-colored Megs. Ah well, the original Hot Shot color scheme looks cool too so I won't mind having both. I think they'll be trading guns and wings, too, assuming that disassembling the car rear isn't too difficult.

Hmmm... There's things I like better about the GF version: Clear headlights, no flames, red windshield, yellow/orange detail next to the door.

There's things I like better about the Cybertron version: Dark gray tires, No yellow crap on the rear spoiler, overall better robot color scheme.

In all it looks like Cybertron got the better figure. I'm happy.

Ack... you know... the more I look at them side by side... the more I want them both... but even though GF Red Excellion is limited to 500 pieces, I'm not sure I'm willing to spend the $100 plus I just saw him for on ebay. I guess I'll just have to settle for the Cybertron version... can't afford a $100 deluxe when I've got a baby less than a month and a half away... *sigh*.

I'm with you guys who like the GF one better. For you guys who are saying CYBERTRON VERSION IS SO MUCH BETTER...why is that?

It's already been said by ams, but it seems to me like the GF version is really rich and sharp looking, whereas the Cybertron one seems washed out. The contrast between orange, red, and yellow on the GF one is really strong without being too insane and is more pleasing to me than the Cybertron one. I think most of the problem for me on the Cybertron one is that the "black" is really just a grey and that the orange is just barely darker than the yellow. With real black there and more of a red-orange, I bet it'd look way better. Also, the flames have the same problem of not really standing out enough, and the windshield, while a more sensible color, also looks rather "washed out" compared to the deep crimson one on the GF version.

    Is it just the picture?

Don't get me wrong, I'll gladly get the Cybertron one, he still looks good, but he's just nowhere near as sharp as the GF one.

Great job on Hasbro's part to give us fans who couldn't afford the limited-edition Takara version a chance to own a similar toy (an even better version, I think).

Let's hope the keep this trend going. I want that Ransack repaint to be the cool police one!

I like both, but the $100 version is definitely out. Too rich for my blood, especially with the weird noises my fridge is making lately. But I might not Cybertron Excellion either. Repaint overdose. Those colors are hot, and the mold is definitely my favorite Hot Shot mold ever. I have jAam and Frankenlink, and both never fail to disappoint.

I'll pick up "Excellion" when I see him on the shelf, but I'm still very happy with the original, :D
