Pass on the black helmet. That looks good but Dirge needs the blue head IMO Was almost thinking of clipping his smaller wings and re-attaching them on the upper part of the larger wings, or substitute with styrene, then dremel down. But sounds like a mission Just keep doing the digibash'n , you're coming up with some awesome stuff.
Oohhhh :O I like that........ Could be more like Dirge then....... Maybe it wouldn't be that hard.......
it'd be harder than you think. rip off the tailfins, then you have to cut the rear off the plane so it doesn't look funny, which of course leaves the problem with the gun arm being way too long...
Ahh well if your gonna cut off the tail fins then no. I'm going to cut off the small fins from my Skywarp.
I wasn't sure if I wanted to post these now, or when I was completely finished, but I'm pretty darned far along now. my next step is to future floor polish everything, add the paint aps to the face, form the arms and legs back together, and then I'll be down to doing the camo scheme and the missiles, unless I decide to go ahead and add some sort of paint ap to the thighs. The blue is a dead ringer for the original Dirge, score! this color looks JUST like sand: REMOVED the masking tape: REMOVED the masking tape: I found a 1:100 Super Hornet model kit today for $2.98... those stupid rubber missiles are trash now! I got the canopy painted with superthinned black paint, and yes, its still quite see-through Andy
Good stuff dude...Ya know i love progress pics... Shit i just love pics They look like they are coming along perfectly!
woohoo! I got every piece clearcoated tonight! I should be able to get him put back together tomorrow! He won't be done of course, cause I still have to paint on the camo and add on those missiles shown above, but you'll still get a good idea of what he'll look like. Stay tuned!
well, I had a few minor set-backs, so I didn't get to fully reassemble the guy, but honestly, I was probably being too hasty anyway. : I got the missles from the model get trimmed down to fit (cut off the tabs) and applied to the wings, reassembled most of the rest of him, and did various touch-ups. I hope to touch-up around where I glued on the missiles tomorrow, and finish reassembly tomorrow. After I get the flat clearcoat applied (thin, its already got future on it) on the head then I will paint metallic gold to the eyes so they stay shiny. then the hard part: the camoflauge! -Andy
Whoo can't wait to see it finished! When you remove pins do you heat the pins first with a soldering iron?
only the rivet styled pins... the regular ones I just take a tiny nail, put the part in a vice-grip clamp (it has rubber covering the ends) and hammer away. (carefully of course)
Lookin' good! I'd love to see one of these well-done repaints in person sometime. I've wondered how much difference the coats of paint make if they're done properly.
thanks I finished reassembling him today. I went ahead and dull-coated the head (over the future) so that tomorrow I can paint his eyes metallic gold and they'll keep their shine. I'll just put a dab of future over them alone after they've dried. For all intents and purposes, I only have to do the camo pattern now, which of course will be slow and tedious. but for now, he's the jetmode sans-camo: -Andy
Man, this is really looking nice! You're really turning a decent mold into something really better! I'm staying excited to see how this turns out!
Wow i never knew there were so many parts to one figure . looking good man, i dont envy you adding on the camo, i would imagine that will be nasty to do.
Wow that is amazing. I wish I could do things like that, if I tried to do that it would look like the bastard child of Wheelie and a Gobot
don't say that, Shin! I used to think the very same thing.. I just started small, cheap, and simple and have been slowly working my way up Here's the first ever robot-mode shot! He's right next to Skywarp and Thundercracker, and behind him is "Thrust". not shown is SS. -Andy
Ah hah! So that one IS Dirge. Looking good dude. Seems just a wee little bit lacking in something... maybe panel line the wings? Just to give it a little contrast maybe?
