I figured, the Cybertron Defense Team needed some real bad guys to go up again, instead of those pesky terrorcons, so I thought I would make up a Decepticon trio called the Cybertron Destruction Team. The thee bots I picked for an upgrade were Ransack, Mudflap, and Dirt Boss.

First up is Ransack, this is just a WIP, I will finish him in the next couple days hopefully.

and... his head with a little shinah color

more to come in the next couple days!! :D

p.s. this is just the front of a much larger vehicle, incase you are wondering how it transforms.. this front section just flips up onto his back in robot mode. Also more details will be added too later on

I had the same idea, I just recolored the CD team and called it the Cybertron Assault team.

Looks like you're going with a WH40K space marine bike for the altmode - should be interesting :)

I love the engine details. And a heavy armored bike looks very cool.
But I don't get the HDRI feeling from these renders. Maybe it's the high reflectivity of the surfaces or an othe strong light in the scene. What software do you use?

    3D max 7..

this is my first time experimenting with HDR, so go easy on me :p

I think it looks neat, but not the way I want the finished product to look. I can't figure out how to make shinyness with dark shadows.. like if I put on an omni light or whatever.. the shadows don't exist on the reflections..

so I dunno.. I still got lots to learn :p

Are you using the default renderer and Lighttracer for advanced lighting?

Be sure that you put the HDRI map in the environment slot and in the bitmap slot of the skylight.

Make sure the reflaction maps are raytrace maps. That can be the cause of the missing shadows.

The defualt engine is very slow. I use v-ray, but Mental Ray and Brazil are good too. These engine are a lot faster. In a simple HDRI test scene I went from 2:12 minutes to 15 seconds.
