My oh my. I finally got my new camera. Of course, this paint job took me the better of 3 & 1/2 weeks, so I had the time to wait.

When I got C.D. Red Alert, two things came to mind: he had tons of detail I couldn't really see, and he looked like someone....someone familiar...and upgraded Perceptor! The bio fits as well; scientist reluctantly upgraded into a war-machine...so I got to work.

This piece represents everything I've learned about painting to this day. I've incorporated techniques here for the first time I've learned from the masters like Jin Saotome and his great guides, such as multiple washes, 3 different dry brushes, and sanding of joints to prevent wear. I gave him a silver dry brush to make him look metallic, in person he looks like worn metal, and nearly like die cast in some parts. I gave him premium mirror-back repro labels faction stickers, and finally trimmed some Zoids detail stickers to add to the look. It was always a goal of mine to be able to repaint figures in my choice of colors, but have them be as durable and appear as though they came out of the box that way, and I think I've finally gotten to that level. So, without anymore self promotion, I give you Cybertron Defense Perceptor.....

Looks great. I will offer this suggestion, in your auction you may want to have the pictures go up and down instead of side to side. I had to scroll 4 pages to read the first line of the description.

WOW! That indeed looks awesome. As soon as the billion and 1 D Red Alerts here go on sale, I might have to try doing that.

But I'm sure yours will still be tons better.

Man, that's a sweet take on Red Alert. I like it. Paint aps seem a wee little bit inconsistant, but the concept is great. :thumb

Yikes! I didn't notice any inconsistencies! What stands out so I can tweak it?

I dunno, it's just kind of a vibe I get from it. The paint aps seem to be just "covering" the paint underneith. But then again, I'm guessing you probably went for a kind of battle-worn kind of look. Maybe I'm just used to solid colour paints rather than having the kind of mixture you use. That probably makes no sense. Basically there's so much detail in terms of weathering that it kind of looks like it's masking the paint underneith? *shrugs* That's as best as I can describe it. But it still looks great.

Beautiful work. The detail work is really great, and you have a good eye to notice his potential as Perceptor. My idea for a repaint of that mold was far from that. Great job!

Why sell it though? I would keep it. Be proud of it. Mere pictures aren't the same as actually having it.

Thank you! What was your ideas for him?

As far as selling him; I got one on the super cheap, so I had two of him, and this took me waaaay longer than I thought. Also, I'm really wanting to get the Chinese G1 boxset so this should help out a little bit with that.

Besides, there's a very cool feeling knowing that a piece I worked on is in someone's collection!

    Thanks again

Wow. That paint job is awesome. Got any links to tutorials on multiple washes and dry brushing? I've never heard of that.
