Done in the same metallic (mostly) clean style as the Autobot Depthcharge featured here at TFW, this is Cybertron Broadside! Customer wanted the clean metallic look to match the other 6 Wreckers I did for him. I tried to keep his colors as simple as they always were, to keep the look of the character intact, but I added lots of little details because good old broadside has a really simple and plain color scheme. Broadside here has 4 modes, though 2 are variations of flight mode. Technically however, I guess he has 5 modes since he also becomes part of the 6 bot Wreckers combiner I am working on. Robot mode has the big boosters on his back and wings on his arms, similar to the IDW version. The boosters also become his huge twin cannons. Carrier mode is a sort of rescue/defend/tow mode, for hauling and repairing fellow Autobots who were damaged in battle. His carrier mode is fully capable of defending rescued bots from even a small armada of Decepticons. (Hatchet pictured on the carrier for example) Atmospheric flight mode is Broadside's way of traveling quickly for those urgent rescue and backup calls. Space ship mode can travel thousands of light years in seconds, and can also post up over a planet as an orbital assault array.
I'm mixed on it its pretty original, but none of the transformations look well propotioned to me, and i could see it needing alittle more detail painting in general, still cool, and they are just my opinions
Great way to recycle what would be the crappier parts from an Energon Shockblast/Sixshot figure! Dig how it came out. The alt modes are certainly far more convincing than Metroplex's intended "Excavation Vehicle" mode for sure! Where are those tiny wing bits from?
Thats good! I am wondering how he will go over with the fans. It is pretty different. Yeah like I said, I needed to keep the primary simplicity of his usual super simple color scheme, so the extra details are all done in colors that don't pop from the main colors much. Like mostly white and light gunmetal on the silver areas. Originally the Metroplex figure didnt really even turn into anything that made much sense, but he was perfect for the combiner build I planned. I did my best with what I had to work with. Well that is a good response to hear! Where are those tiny wing bits from?[/QUOTE] Thanks. They actually wen't even leftovers. I destroyed 2 perfect and complete Shockblast's for this. :O Maybe one will have enough left to become a classics Shockwave version 3. I hope its better than the old "Excavation Vehicle" mode. That was my goal. I get fodder from different people, including some of the super cool customers. The wings were from my stash but I dunno what they are from.
Great job. Would've liked to have seen a more flat, large area top to the carrier mode. But fantastic, nonetheless.
How do you know th- Oh yeah, you sent the parts to me. Keep in mind the base figure was chosen because he worked best for the combiner. I did my best from there, and probably no worse than Hasbro did with the one crummy alt mode they game the base figure. Thanks for the good constructive opinions guys!
Its a matter of taste there. I like it and the customer asked me to do it this way. I don't think I've ever heard anyone say "TOO MUCH METALLICS!!!" To me that's like saying "TOO SEXY!!!"
I would i agree with you there man i love the metal look its awesome. Im sorry to ask this but did you chrome it or was it just silver paint i roughly read i just look at the pics lol
