Okay...This almost cost me a finger but the biceps rotation are done. Nice and clean.
Original piece, cut and pinned?
Oh, and I never feel a project is perfect until I bleed. Weird, but it's been part of my process for a LONG time.
Doesn't help that I'm sometimes clumsy.
Affirmative, the original piece is a pain in the ass to cut, specially the elbows inner parts...I started sawing with a small saw but it didn't seem to work right so I used my x-acto knife which seemed to be more adequate for the job and this shit happened to my finger...
Seriously, I never had a finger cut like this before, I lost a small portion of the top area above the finger nail and this almost fucked up my finger articulation and it hurts like hell... I can't believe I managed to finish the other arm articulation though...
Well, now it's recovery time...
I've lost track of how many times I've cut, drilled and sanded my fingers during projects. Most of my more intense builds have drawn blood, which is why I now almost consider it good luck.
Anyway, nicely done! Very clean and efficient, without losing any range of motion.
Thanks a lot! I wish I could make him a better ball-jointed neck, but I'm done with this guy until my finger heals up.
I named myself (possessed digit/nubby thumb) due to me actually chunking off the corner of my thumb while cutting thru a transformer with an exacto knife. Machine Wars Optimus Prime, to be exact. And he was brand new at the time. So you can do the math if you want...Anyway, hope you heal up ok.
About the elbow bend- I wanted to do the exact same thing as yours, but I thought the forearms might impede articulation since the joint is set so deep into it. Any issues?
I know what you mean, the joint is set deep indeed, but you can always put the arm straight, turn the piece around to the position you want and bend the arm back again, it's not big deal.
You know what? I was studying this figure and I'm pretty sure that this design was conceived to be full articulated and poseable but at some point Hasbro mofos decided put him on these low cost emergent market so they could spare a few coins with the articulation. His design is way superior compared with the other figures of this Cyber Battalion line and you can even notice that he was designed to be something a lot better but they just gave up for budget reason... Those wings... I think they were originally planned to fold together and form a gun handle and he suppose to be a triple changer for TR line... Even with a stupid headmaster this would have been awesome.
dang bro...be careful
Ok thanks. That’s exactly what I thought would happen. But with no Walgreens anywhere remotely close to me(closest one I know is an hour away) and no spare figure, I’m a bit hesitant to fudge him up. I thought of extending the arm to compensate, but I didn’t want him to have gorilla arms, and I still (at the moment) want the arm to link to that panel on the back of the shoulder. Thanks!
And I know what you’re saying about his “potential”. He seems to have been meant for so much more but to keep the toys budget low enough, articulation was sacrificed. My plan is to use those wings as a gun handle eventually. And do something different with the arms. If I can ever find time or motivation ...
nice job brother!
with more effort you will achieve the gun mode
Once I put my hands on another copy I will try it out. I already know what to do. ,
I might have a junker downshift, how did you integrate the legs? This would tempt me to get that Shockwave.
What is that Megatron?
I used Loctite's very strong glue, didn't need any other reinforcement to keep 'em firmly attached. If so you can always insert some putty inside of the small residual space of the joints. I actually transformed him many times and posed him in various positions and the knee joints are still intact.
Megatron is Oversized GT Megatron, you can find him easily on Aliexpress or ZShow store:

Great job on Shockwave, he looks great!
Also love your Soundwave, very cool.
Sorry to hear about your finger!
If it wasn't for that, I would pay you to make me
a copy of the Shockwave. It looks fantastic, and I
totally like the good articulation.
Nice, why Hasbro didn't give him knees to begin with I have no idea!
I remember back when I used to be able to find new Transformers toys in stores. Such a long time ago. I'm still trying to find 1 of these Shockwaves but it's totally fucking IMPOSSIBLE!
The moment you realize that 1 is asking too much!
I've seen a couple of these leg mods, all them great but I'm just going keep waiting until shapeways puts something out before I start cutting up some figures
