Do you play with your custom figures?

  1. Heck yeah! What's the point of them just standing around looking pretty?

So, some of us (like me) love custom painting their figures. I'll slap custom paint on anything that isn't G1 or Masterpiece, myself. Question is: what do you do with your handsome shining custom? Does it become a display piece, never to know again the feeling of a good run-around-and-pew-pewing? Or do you dare take the risk, and play around with your handiwork? Or do you just not customize your figures?

Me, I'll play with my customs more than my non-customs. Heck, I'm always carrying my first custom - a DOTM Deluxe Bumblebee - around in my pocket. Heck, as long as he's careful, I'll let my ten year old brother play with them, too. It's just too fun to mess around with these awesome toys, and slapping an improved coat of paint on them just makes them look so desirable and fun.

I discovered Shapeways last year through a friend and I'm constantly buying heads.

Lately I'm enjoying my custom Gutcruncher from Titans Hardhead, Battletrap from Highbrow and inner bot Thunderwing from Sentinel Prime with Nucleon.

2 of my earliest customs are Cloudburst from Classics Jetfire and Fracture from Machine Wars Prowl.

I mess around with my custom figures sometimes, but that's only because I modify the figure. I don't add any extra paint or anything of the sorts.

I'm more careful sometimes, depending on how much paint is on there, but I mess with and repose everything.

All the time. I re-pose them and transform them as often as any other figures I have. The customs I have for myself are there for a reason, so not messing with them would be pointless.
Plus, if I mess with them and the paint scratches or whatnot, I can fix it and learn what to do better next time.

I can't bring myself to go pew-pew and throw them at a wall at lightspeed anymore, but I do fiddle with them, transform them, and the usual re-pose.
I don't usually do full repaints, just paint apps. I am worried about AOE Crosshairs though, I didn't clearcoat his trench coat because my clearcoat is bad and gloppy.
Aside from a TFP Beast Hunters 'Bee which made a badass Cliffjumper, they all get "played" with.

Well, they do get the shit beaten out of them, can't count how many times they've fallen off that bookshelf. Paint stays on though.

I don't like customs that are covered in layers of paint. I only like customs that can be played with. So the majority of my custom figures are part swaps with only minor paint details added.

I would love to customize some of my duplicate Transformers but I know I can’t due to my shaky hands and arthritis.

I just got into the small, simple Gundam building kits and even those makes my hand hurts and cramp up.

I’m probably more careful than I should be because all I do is details or corrections, not full repaints

Of course I'm playing with them. Do you think my custom Rumble had those paint chips made from standing still.
It's because of playing and my shitty paint skills.

Shit yes. Paint is cheap. I still TF the painted ones. The Testor's/Model Masters acrylics I use are surprisingly durable to boot.

I may have been a bit of a destructive child. That, or the Decepticons may have had a very powerful cannon that could shoot Autobots all the way across the battlefield. Yeah. It’s the latter.

Yep, play with them all the time.
But they're my own customs. Can't say I'd ever buy someone's custom but if I did i might not play with that as much.

Did the Autobots also have a cannon just like that?
