I have a couple extra Red alerts and am wanting to customize one into Sunstreaker. I can get repro lables for the job but is there anywhere i can find the correct head sculpt for it?

Is Classics Sunstreaker really that pricey these days?

Yeah would make more sense for you to just buy one and sell off your Red Alert or trade

He seems to average about $30-$40 on Ebay so not that he is too expensive, it's just that I have a couple Red Alerts and would like to challenge myself to see if i could pull off the custom. It's just a fun project. I need a head though and don't know how to get one, you know?

Try picking another car character that seems interesting to you. One that has'nt had a toy in generations-classics will earn you some props.
Or do your own characters, I've seen more than a few unique Mayhem Attack Squad recuits that are interesting.

RID. Rev was a TFcon custom class figure that used the sunstreaker mold. You could try that:

more RID spychangers? Most of those make sense with the Sideswipe/ Red Alert chest setup.

you know, that is a good idea. i have thought in the past to make a custom transformer that is just my own creation and has nothing to do with TF continuity. Just for shiggles. For instance, I am a die hard Kawasaki fan and one day i wanted to make a custom with Kawaski green and just make an homage to it. Does that sound stupid or do you guys think that would be a cool thing to do. just for myself, ya know?

That mold has been out for about 3 years and I think this is the first that I've seen of Hasbro's Sunstreaker being that much. Oh well, go after market prices I guess.

Up until last year, I had a bunch of Sunstreakers that I bought up when Walmart had that 777 deal for all TF deluxes. Would've been able to help you out back then.

When you actually get to painting, I recommend using a can of Krylon Fusion (I forget the shade of yellow that would be appropriate for this).

Some Sunstreakers can still be found at Canadian retail at Sears for about $17 bucks. Start a wanted thread at Cybertron.ca and see if anyone can find one for you.

Definitely do an original custom. It's tons of fun to create your own character for your own cannon. Especially if you really like the base mold. I have 5 original chaacters made from the Tomahawk mold cause I freaking love it so much.

Go for it. Not only is it fun making the fig, but also creating the characters bio and back story and stats. If you do it, post it in Radicons. You'll get some great advice.

I'm sure someone would be happy to do a straight trade for one of your Red Alerts for Sunstreaker. By all means make your own original custom, I'd like to see what you come up with.

If you have Red Alert I'd suggest you go for a Breakdown custom. Strip some of the red, paint the bar, remove the police light, and shave the horns to make it blockier. If you want to go all out then you'll also have to paint a lot of the red into navy blue.
