    Well..
I don't really have a metalhawk in hand yet..
But I do know what I wanted to do with it.
So I picked up a spare sky shadow and got to work.

I dislike the human head so that had to go and was replaced with a cybertron hotshot head (which has more articulation now, he can look up and down and left and right to an extent) and then I took teh chest piece off and painted that gold.

I think it should look good on the metalhawk body.
I'm experimenting with the feet to see if the red I can spray on them looks good to give him red feet.. But we'll see.. That's TBD.. I can live with the blue feet if I have to.

IT took A LOT of work to the cybertron hotshot head and the chest piece (had to basically get it as thin as possible) to make the head fit in alt mode.
    But I think it works.

Best part is.. Not a thing has to be done to the actual metalhawk mold that can't be reversed!

It'll work better when it has a sweet metalhawk body to go on. :)

That really works well, thanks for the idea and I'll be probably using this head for my friend's Metalhawk custom.

    Thanks for sharing.

TBH the Botcon version is one of the ugliest things ever..this though is like the ultimate Makeover, going to be a huge improvement.

absolutely, it was a simple mod, and it looks better for sure!
The chest plate is on a plastic hinge that doesn't have a pin holding it in, so it's great! Depending if I Can match the blues and such, I may go and make the arms and legs a bit closer to his on screen self. But we'll see.
I would DEFINITELY like to have the red toes work out though.

I LOVE the deco in the jet mode. The bot mode, I get what they were going for, but don't really find myself in love with it. :)  I'm not as big of a fan of the pretender shell and more of a fan of the bot inside.

Metal hawk arrived today, so I went ahead and put on all my modified parts!
    Much better (IMO).
I need a small autobot logo to put o the top of his chest, but I love it!
The first post has been updated appropriately!

The feet that I had painted red ended up working out perfectly too it's ALMOST a perfect match in red color.

Somehow the hotshot head seems to make it not feel so small!

You know it! Couldn't have done it without your help! I'm glad what I saw in the mold turned out well. I was a bit worried after a while looking at sky shadow for a while when I started to doubt my thoughts. But I was content that I could switch it back if it didn't work.. Fortunately for me it totally does!

It took A LOT of work surprisingly. I had to sand and test fit a ton of times before it worked out. The worst part was getting the chest thinned down to accommodate the head. I wanted the pointy parts on the sides of his head to stick up a bit more, but there was just flat out no way to make the head fit within the chest compartment without having to do major modifications to the toy (something I'd rather not do).

Ontop of that the gold paint I used didn't want to adhere that well even after hitting it with a coat of primer first.. It was strange, but finally worked out!

This looks good! I used a spare Cyclonus to make a Metal Hawk, but I like your idea a lot!

Yea... if they insisted on using the Pretender Jet mold for Metalhawk.. they should've at least used the Black Shadow retool.

    Regardless... nice little mod.

Was the only change (aside from the head) of black shadow that's different the chest plate? Just making sure there isn't extra stuff that was different and I never noticed.. :)
