    Hi all. :D

I was out on a TF hunt after work, and I stumbled across TK Maxx, which is sometimes known for having discounted end-of-line toys, usually from store chains that have gone out of business. While I'm yet to find any TFs I did pick up something with a view to it becoming a TF.

    Behold, Zoid Zabat!

He cost me a grand total of £3 ($6), and over the next few days he will become...

    Ratbat!

Purple paint was soon picked up:

I'll probably do some customising, maybe to give it 'solid' wings and maybe some recognisable facial features. So far I've managed to open up the box and have a look at the sprues:

Lots of parts to be painted!

Watch this space as this guy progresses...

Even if he did, I'd end up displaying him in bat mode all the time anyway. :D

Your local TK-Maxx has Zoids? Damnit, all ours has are overpriced SD Gundam kits.
I really regret passing up that £1.99 Molga a year or so back. I always wanted one of those.

I can't wait to see how this turns out. Looks to be good, alsolooks like it will be hellishly hard to build. Oh, and for future, if your local starts stocking Gojulas or Gojulas Giga, you let me know right away.

How big will this be when its finished?

Thanks for the comments so far. :D  I'm going to assemble it so I can work out what needs to be painted, then dismantle it and paint. It looks like he'll have a wingspan of about 16 inches.

Right, a bit of time has passed and I've got 'Zabat' assembled:

While the body is quite small, a wide wingspan gives him some added presence - I'm planning to 'fill' the wings in with cut sheet styrene.

That thing on his chest is a removable pull-back motor. I think I'll leave it in.

The head will likely get some remodelling work, I wouldn't mind giving him a pair of fangs.

He can wrap his wings around himself and hang from an included frame. :)

    Next up - the painting.

Man, either he's got one massive wing span or your picture is misleading....in the pic, it looks like the wingspan is a wide as your keyboard!....thats one cool looking toy...if I had known that it looked like that, I would have bought it just for the cool factor...

Cant wait to see this guy as Ratbat :thumb

Hey I just got an idea for this Ratbat maybe the alt mode could be a modified satellite that hover above the planet. What do you think?

He's maybe an inch narrower than the keyboard - very impressive once the wings are fully folded-out.

I've been toying with a few ideas to custom him up further, one of which involves giving him the two thrusters that the original has on his back, kitbashed from some rocket model kits - could give him some kind of space-borne alt mode. I'm considering it but I may leave him as he is as I'll be displaying him in 'bot mode all the time anyay.

So does that mean our version came first, being higher in the alphabet and all? :)

It's odd, the picture on the box makes the wings look more filled in than the final, assembled kit, but then, "products and colors may vary," so...

Still a really awesome idea, look forward to the results.
