I dunno if this is the right forum, but I found this auction on yahoo Japan. Does anyone know the guy who made it or where this custom originated from? I tried running the link through an online translator but that didn't help much.. The head looks bloody awesome and it'd be great if there where more for sale.
That is pure love! although for some reason, the face remind me of another figure... although it could be very well sculpted still, it would be great if KCC could repro it
Yeah I wish someone would get it repro'd or just sell these over here. I'd buy one in a heartbeat. Maybe P.PRIME, S250, LagunaL8 or one of our other asian posters knows more about this custom and if there are more for sale?
It seems like they used a face from an Alternator/Binaltech. I'm still not sure which one it could be. EDIT: I think it might be Sideswipe's (or based on it, at least): http://tfkenkon.com/collection/act171/
I think you're right. It looks like he took Sideswipe's face, cut off the helmet, filed down the nose and chin, stuffed it into Perceptor's helmet (which itself was slightly modified), and changed some colors. Which is cool, since that means a kitbasher could theoretically try to do that ... and make a custom piece which someone could reproduce. Which would be awesome. -XCN-
While Hound and Sideswipe do have similar looking faces, I'm betting it's Sideswipe. The Perceptor head has a flat, oval shaped face just like Sideswipe, vs. Hound which is angled outwards along a line right below the nose. Also, the chin shape is slightly different (taking into account that the Perceptor head has it filed down). Sideswipe's nose starts angling out below his eyes, and while the Perceptor nose is filed down as well, there's a slight mark indicating where Sideswipe's nose would've started. Hound's nose, in contrast, is one piece and starts between his eyes. Hound also has deeper eyehole cuts; at the angle in the picture, you could confuse the two, but viewing Sideswipe's eyes at an angle produces the same effect (where there are shadows below the slit eyes angled outward, from the face sculpt). -XCN-
