Last year, my friend/former officemate gave me KO Gundam junker parts and other KO toys. Lots of them. Like, a whole box full. Parts from KO MG 1/100 Wing Zero Custom, Hi-Nu and Exia Ignition Mode, NG 1/100 Kyrios, Saviour and Freedom, 1/144 HG Exia, Dynames, Virtue/Nadleeh, Kyrios, 00 Raiser, Cherudim, Seravee/Seraphim, Arios, Kyrios Trans-Am Mode, Strike Freedom, Murasame, Akatsuki Oowashi and Akatsuki Shiranui, action bases, lots of polycaps (still in runners), some (KO?) Lego parts and some race tracks. But the problem is, I don't know what to do with them.

For a month, I was assigned to a far-from-home place for some consultancy-based job. During my free time, I go on a food trip in various malls and play arcade games. I came across an area of the arcade where old games are at, and I saw the game I used to play when I was still in high school, Tech Romancer. Brief description, it is a 3D fighting game with mechas inspired by popular robots from Mazinger Z, Voltes V, Macross, Gundam, Ultraman, etc. My favorite character is a Macross knockoff named Strategic Variable Fighter Rafaga. Default mode is the humanoid form, but it can transform to gerwalk and fighter mode to suit your fighting style. When I challenge other players, I'm most confident everytime I use Rafaga because it can adapt to various situations because of its ability to fight where I want to fight, it can deal massive amounts of damage with combos and super moves and although he is not the fastest, it has above average speed in the game. On top of it all, Rafaga's design is totally bada$$.

    Rafaga's design:

Then it hit me. There was no Rafaga, let alone any Tech Romancer toy ever produced. I have a lot of KO Gundam junker parts. I have the necessary hand tools to make my custom Rafaga. So what am I waiting for?

After 2 days, here's what I ended up with:

Some poses to show the articulation:

The thing is, this is my second time in toy customization and modification. Comparing Rafaga's line art and my finished product, obviously I wasn't able to copy Rafaga's design and semblance. Worse, I wasn't able to make it transformable.

    Now, on to the weapons:

It has 2 rifles that can be mounted on the wings and a blade that can be stored on either leg.

When I said that this custom Gundam isn't transformable, I was lying...

This is still a work in progress. I'm planning on painting it and adding decals that the KO Gundams came with. But for now, I will continue to work on my custom Armada Starscream that I started 2 years ago. I'm almost done adding badly-needed articulation on the shoulders and thighs. By the way, I apologize for the blurry pics and bad lighting.

I welcome any comment, feedback/criticism with open arms, as I badly need tips and secrets in customizing toys, especially with painting and molding.

    Thanks for looking!

Thank you for the kind words. I appreciate it.

@G60force - Photography isn't my strong suit, obviously. :)  I will try to shoot more pics with better background and platform.

@Spyne98 - I love TFs and Gundams, and it's my personal mission to customize Gundams to transform. :)  Although the base Gundam I used (Arios Gundam) is already transformable, I wanted a more Earth-based vehicle looking alternate mode.

@soymonk - I searched for pics of IDW Metalhawk because I don't read TF comics, and I don't even know how IDW Metalhawk looks like. I'm sure it's just a big coincidence. :)
