Custom Macross Decals and Box for 1/55 Scale Valkyrie
    by Lou B. ( char_leigh )

I have a trio of the vintage and popular 1/55 scale Macross Valkyrie. There's the Transformers Generation 1 Jetfire, the Macross VF-1A, and the knockoff Jetfire known as "Galaxy Defender."

With the exception of the knockoff Galaxy Defender, the toys are really old and needed some fixing and minor restoration. I thought it'd be fun to design some Macross/Robotech-inspired decals. I even decided to design a custom box for the toys. I'm a big fan of the Macross Design Works artbook, so I based the box's design off of that.

Thanks again for checking this out.

Nice work as always. The look of theses guys holds up surprisingly well for being such a old design, but your decals are a nice addition.

Really like the boxes, much better than the original. Do you have a box for the VF-1S (Jetfire) super parts.

Thanks! As always, I appreciate your feedback. And yeah, I'm a big fan of the original Jetfire toy. In the age of Masterpiece figures and 3rd party toys, the original Jetfire toy still holds up well for being an old design. When you consider that the toy was designed in the early 1980s, it has great articulation, an intuitive and satisfying transformation, great detailing, and it's well weighted with all of the diecast parts. It's one of my favorite TF toys hands down.

Unfortunately, this Jetfire was secondhand, given to me by a friend, and it was missing most of the super parts, jet boosters, and gun pod. I searched ebay for replacement parts, but it was a bit too pricey. The figures does seem naked without the parts though.

I always love the custom boxes you make. It's cool to see some non-TF ones here too.
