I'd stepped away from my customs work for quite a while, and I'm starting that up again. To start off, I finally finished up my custom classics Shockwave. Please forgive the crappy pics. I swear I'm gonna built a lightbox soon *lol*

For those who don't recall (and who would really? Its been forever *lol*) he has parts from both Energon Shockblast and Six-Shot, the forearms from Armada Megatron, the biceps are made from the thighs of Energon Demolishor, the cannon is from Energon Snow-Cat, and the fist is from a set of Gundam manipulators. The hand swaps out with a small cannon, which you can use in either mode.

I'm going to see if I can take some better photos a bit later on. Comments are welcome, as always :)

Oh, and he's now up on ebay if anyone is interested.

Thanks! I used Tamiya Purple, which turned out to be the perfect shade as-is. I could have went darker, like the original toy was, but I prefer this shade.

    Glad you like it :)

I Really like the mods to this one. Nice touch on this mold! Both bot and ALT modes work very well for an update to the Classics aesthetics.

    Great job!!!

Your choice of purple is always awesome with this fig, bro. Is this the second one for you?

Actually, its the first one. I went a loooong time without working on it. I will, however, be building a second one for myself this fall.

    And thanks! :)

I really like this, but just wondering if his chest is silver-ish or a lighter shade of purple? Kind of hard to tell. I love how he looks "slimmer", the backpack treads is just ridiculous. (from eBay pics) My irks is the green eye from Energon Shockblast, Sixshot's head is just better cause of the red, or tint it yellow!! Biggest one is the lack of cable connecting to his cannon! Have you considered trying something for that? I would totally go for this on eBay if those things didn't bother me. Did you fix the hip problem that is common with that mold, where the upper body doesn't click into the hip, therefore giving it this annoying "leaning forward" appearance?

lol sorry for the hating, honestly this guy looks great, the colour scheme really does it!

Its actually a mix of purple with silver, with silver accents.

I opted not to attempt to tint the eye because it would have still ended up looking greenish. I'd have had to paint over it entirely, or go the hot-glue route, and i decided to leave it as is. I actually prefer the green to the red :)

I had a hose I was using, but its actually a leftover from a childhood toy, so I decided to keep that. One is easily added, as I simply "plugged" mine into one of the screw-holes in the forearm and then tucked the other end into the tread-backpack. You can use one of the lego-type pneumatic hoses.

As for fixing the torso-joint, I didn't do that as I wasn't sure about the best approach.

Thank you for the interest, and the comments :)

Thanks for replying!! Sweet, I will keep an eye out for such cables. And the green is starting to appeal to me! It's looking more yellower and yellower. (Is that a word?!) :p

Yes, the hip-torso joint is a common problem with this mold, I won't lie, even I don't know what to do to fix it that won't affect his transformation. I just thought since you're pro (!), you might know a solution!

Thanks man, am keeping an eye on this on eBay!

    You are quite welcome :)

I wouldn't call myself a pro yet, as I've only done 2 complete customs thus far, and have a couple more in the wings in various stages of completion, but I appreciate it.

I may try the catch-all solution and see if a couple of rare-earth magnets would help keep his torso and pelvis clipped together..

Thanks man, it really looks great. I love it! I will try to win it, find some cable and work it through.

.....can we try rare earth magnets if I win? :D  Good luck!
