I had this guy on my blogger for months, and finally got around to taking some pics of him. His chrome coating is called "Alclad" and comes in liquid form (for aitbrush) or in an aerosol can. It's quite expensive, but in my opinion, worth every penny. It's the closest I've found to chrome finish.

As always, you can visit my blogger or flickr page for larger detailed pics.

that look very very nice. I love paint like that because it picks up all the surrounding colors.

nice to know this stuff really works.

Did you paint it black first like they do in the videos on the site?

I'm not 100% happy with the finish, I intend to trump this Alclad result, but it's a LOT of work. You need a 'glass-smooth' finish of black as your base coat, before spraying. And airbrush is 10 times better than aerosol can.

Gotta think of another figure who'd require chrome finish in the TF line, then I'll be inclined to give it another go.

    Maybe chrome devastator??? hehe

Beautiful work! Very classy! If the Premium version looked like this, I'd pay.... well, I guess I'd pay a premium for it!

I've received my Alclad now, and I've gotta say, it's incredible. I'm not even using it properly (I don't own an airbrush, so I'm just using a soft sable), and after just a couple of coats, the difference to other so-called 'chrome' paints is absolutely astonishing. I don't doubt if I could grab an airbrush, it'd be even better.

I'd thoroughly recommend the stuff to anyone; I think I'll be getting a lot of use out of it...

hey f_r, I'd like to ask a question.

did you spray alclad on all of Jazz's grey parts (head, etc) or on just the car shell? 'Coz his legs and head don't look chromed.

I'm actually planning to do this to my Jazz as well, but unfortunately they don't sell alclad here in the Philippines. I'm going with some cheap-ass Bosny/RJ london automotive acrylic epoxy chrome paint.

it's actually some of the most durable paints I've ever used from a sprat can. I FINALLY had my parents send my old air brush compressor in the mail (got it today) so my next round is gonna be Alclad in the air brush.

Goes on really nice, gotta use it in moderation though. Too much or too little = no chrome.
