Woohoo! Just picked up this beauty on eBay for $35. Shinobitron did an excellent job from the looks of his pictures. Don't have it in hand yet, but I don't link I'll be disappointed with the final product.

He deserved more. If I had some money to spare I would have bought it for more.

    I agree with you 100%

A lot of work goes into making a bash/custom....a lot of times low prices like these can be disappointing....but its all part of the evil eBay game.

I just hope Shinobi doesnt let it get him down.....a low "sell value" should never have a artist placing a value on their skill and worth....

I have seen it happen to a lot of artist, myself included, and it can be a hard thing to bounce back from if you let it get you down.

I agree as well, it actually is a DIS-SERVICE to under pay for someone's art. It devalues the artist as well as the art genre in general. That being said, it could be viewed as a fair trade off for something like Ebay, as the worldwide exposure has some value of its own. BUT there has to come a time when buyers/potential buyers have to show their appreciation for the craftsmanship, which is usually shown is $$$$$$!

Yeah, materials alone can eat up costs, not to mention the actual hours spent. I spend a ton of hours on mine.

When I can, I make sure to put a bid on customs I like from you guys. If the off chance that I win it at my low price, I would negotiate a fair price, or tell them that they can resell it. Setting a reserve can help insure a fair price, but it also tends to scare people away.

I don't know if that is shady or anything, I just know the work that goes into these customs.

Edit: Nothing against flywheels, I'm just stating my own stance with customs. Congrats on winning this!

I bid much higher than my winning bid. The Kup he had on auction at the same time went for around $120 so I thought Dead End would end up there as well. I was surprised that 1) I won the auction and 2) that it didn't go higher than it did.

I don't usually buy customs, but this one was just so great I just had to take a stab at it...and I got lucky. Nothing more, nothing less.

Yeah man, Congrats!! I don't think anybody meant to be negative towards you, it just seemed to open up a discussion. I think that is an awesome custom, and you won it fair and square!! :thumb

I never feel bad about what I get out one of my pieces. Granted I do what I do to help pay the bills but the main thing is that the person getting the piece is happy and has a nice spot for it in their collection. Its a good feeling knowing that someone actually wants something that you created on display in their home. According to flywheels feedback he was very happy with the piece and in the end to me thats all that really mattered. Congrats on the win glad you dug Deadend.

That's really nice. And I'm surprised it only got $35. Another Shinobitron custom missed.

QFT, I have been out of customizing for almost 6 months now, partly preparing for marriage and partly because of what you said above. I'm gonna get back into it though...
