Hello there. In my bedroom, I have one window that has venetian blinds and one window that has nothing. The window that has nothing faces the sunset and tends to get hot in the afternoons. Plus, as the sun goes down, it shines on my figures.
The window that has the blinds, still gets sunlight shinning through the blinds even when the blinds are in their closed position. We get "lines".
So my question is which is better? Blinds, or curtains?
I wish to darken and cool my bedroom and protect my figures. One thing that's hesitating me about curtains is my cat. I have no doubt she will climb on them and I'm not sure how to keep her off.
    What do you think?

Curtains and a squirt gun. Start with water, then vinegar, and work your way up to battery acid. Eventually the cat will learn, or you can get a dog.

Buy a shovel too, in case your cat's a slow learner.

We have a dog, and no I don't need a shovel she's a quick learner. Nor would I do that anyway! :)
Both, so leave the blinds alone and get curtains for the window without anything? I would do curtains on both windows as curtains are more decorative.

    Which will reduce temperature better?

I bought light blocking accordian style blinds for my loft where my collection resides.

Zero light gets in and keeps the loft much cooler than if I had regular blinds or curtains.

Not sure I'm familiar with those kind of blinds. Could you kindly post a picture of them please?
Also, would Bed Bath and Beyond have'em?

They look like these but the insides on mine have what looks like foil to block out light:

I don't think regular retail stores sell stuff like this. I got mine custom from Next Day Blinds.

Use aluminum foil inside the window.

Cats will tear up blinds in a heart beat, more so than curtains.

I have both in my house. The blinds are mainly for privacy while the curtains are for show.

Aluminum foil won't work. The "aliens" area already inside the house! LOL!

    Blinds and Blackout curtains..

or do like I do and have two massive DVD shelf units in front of it. Only light that gets in is from the top and that is not much.
