I made a post about this in the Voice Changer Helmet review thread, but figured it's mildly newsworthy enough to merit its own thread. If not, well, then lock away, mods!

Much like the helmet, Cyber Stompin' Optimus Prime also has a Cullen variant. aksmth and I found them at the Lafayette, IN TRU on Saturday morning. On the back of the box, where the first version reads "Battle Sounds and Phrases!", this one has a sticker with something along the lines of "Real Movie Sounds and Phrases!"

Neither of us bought one, so I guess I can't prove it. But they ARE out there.

Bloody hell. Can someone ask the Hasbro panel at Botcon what the story is behind all these "real sounds" and "non real movie sounds" variants?

Glad I haven't taken mine out of the packaging yet. I'll definitely be returning it when I can find the Cullen version.

If I had to guess, they started production to get enough made in time for the movie launch, then got Cullen in for the voice shortly after.

I think the real reason is that they wanted to give the kids and adults something they can both appreciate. Kids who's first exposure to tf's was via the armada trilogy are used to Gary Chalk as Optimus Prime, for them thats all they know. Adults who grew up with g1 or fans who got into g1 and like it better, know Cullen is their definitive Prime.

Its to satisfy 2 different audiences I think. I also think that they are evenly split in a 50/50 ratio. Its relatively easy to find both IMHO.

You know, I've listened to the non-Cullen helmet clips over and over again on YouTube and I seriously don't think it's Chalk. Only one clip sounds even remotely like him, whereas the rest sound like the guy Hasbro got to do the 20th Anniv. DVD Prime sounds.

It's certainly a question that'll be asked at Botcon though. This is just odd.

Well, it doesn't sound terrible, but more along the lines of just about bearable.

And even though he doesn't even come close to the coolness of Cullen, I still think Chalk is cool.

Dangit, mines open and displayed :(

On the other hand though I love whoever's voice that is... the "I am OPTIMUS PRIME!" delusion :D

For me Chalk will always rule as optimus primal, but cullen is prime.

    That's basically it Chalk=Primal Cullen=Prime

Had they used Chalk on a Primal toy no one would be complaining

I found my Cullen helmet at Target on Sat. morning. It was the only one I saw though. As for the Cyber Stompers, not sure yet. I'll be hunting for one, that's for sure.

My local TRU stores in Richmond VA don't have the Cullen Stomper but they do have the helmets. They also do not have the Blackout-Skorponok 2-pack yet. But they're running a special this weekend:

Get a $5 gift card with each $25 purchase. TRU Online is also running a special thru the 8th. $25 orders will recieve a free Real Gear Bot.

    Awesome, thanks! ^_^

For me getting to a TRU is a minor pain, but Target I can handle.

We really should have picked up one of the Cullen Cyber stompers, if nothing else to hock it on eBay as "TeH RARORZ Cullen PrimeZ" or some such...

And I'm bummed my helmet's not a Cullen helmet.
