I don't think so. If they made two versions of it, someone would have reported it as a news piece. After this long, I doubt that it's true they had two versions.

You said 1 sounded like Chalk. Chances are it either was experiencing a speaker glitch or the batteries were runing down. This is they type of news that gets to TFW's ears long before an item is even released. To have been this long on the market, and with as many people who have a mask from this site, this would have been noted a while back.

    There *are* two versions.

..and it's very easy to tell which is which based purely on inflection.

The Cullen one says *I* am Optimus Prime,
the one that's allegedly Chalk says I *AM* Optimus Prime.

The one with Peter Cullen's voice has different packaging as well. On the side where the Chalk version says "Try Me" or some such phrase, the Cullen version says something like "The REAL movie voice".

I've seen 'em both. I'm tempted to get the version with Cullen's voice.

There are distinctly 2 different voices. Get a Cullen and a Chalk... there is a difference.

And it was reported. But since I can't find the original thread... you'll have to take my word.

The packaging is even different. The Cullen helmet says "Real Movie Voice" on the front left corner. The Chalk one says featuring battle sounds or something generic.

Don't know which is really harder to find, but the Cullen one was completely absent from a TRU I visited a while back. The WM I got mine from only had 1 Cullen.

Don't really know why were discussing this.. but theres my input.

It's possible to a Cullen one got in with a different box or vice versa.

I got the first one "Chaulk Version" (not really Gary Chaulk, but maybe voiced by the guy who did the 20th DVD Prime base?) which I returned and got the Cullen one from TRU. It had the red on the side with "Real movie voice" as mentioned.

That was about a month ago that was reported.

EDIT: I did see a lot of these at Target and WM today. they were all Cullen ones.

Every store I go to, I see a million Chalk helmets, and never any Cullen helmets. I think I saw the Peter Cullen version *once*, and I wish I picked it up when I saw it. It's looking like Cullen's is the rarer AND better version.

I got the Chalk version on the first day the toys were released. About a week later I got the Cullen version after reading that there was one with the real movie voice.

There are two versions...I have both. Some of the Cullen helmets are in the origional packaging, but most are in the "movie voice" packaging. I have noticed over the last week and half that there are less and less Chalk helmets in my area. After that first production wave is gone they will all be Cullen.

At our TRU they had two versions - one that was Cullen, and one (to me) that sounded like a generic robot voice - which I guess was only bad batteries or speakers or something, as no one else has reported it. I naturally got the Cullen version.

I managed to find the Cullen one only because I pressed the buttons on several of them and found it.

So it appears that they could be put into the wrong box... ;)  Nice.

There are Voice Helmets with Cullen's voice and one with the guy who did the voice for the stand on the Movie 20th Anniversary Prime. The sayings are the same but they are clearly different. I think they made the helmet first and got Cullen to do the second run later.

Oh, and its NOT Gary Chalk. The way he says certain things as Optimus Prime is CLEARLY different than the guy on the helmet.
