Based on the current exchange rate, I found a practically mint Huff for $45 in Akihabara, Japan. I saw the box and asked if I could look at it. Swiped it right away and DAMN I got lucky for the price I paid! I see how even in horrible condition he is worth over $100! Big surprise!

Huff is still one of my favorite 3P figures. The only way I would get the 2.0 version would be a complete retool of the cab to match Huff.

Is that 2.0 version ever happening or is that a lost cause at this point?

I guess it wasn't updated in this thread (or maybe it was?), but BadCube posted protoype photos of Huff 2.0 and their Pipes just a few weeks ago. Not a lost cause, and coming pretty soon.

Maybe they are taking onboard the comments people made about the revised version, and making potential updates to satisfy both parties?

No, I live in Tokyo, Japan. I went to a shop in Akihabara in Tokyo and got lucky. Snatched it right away.

Personally, I like the updated look. I lean more towards a realistic looking vehicle over something from the cartoon.

I suspect once we see it in color, it might end up more appealing to the hold outs.

I'm curious. I didn't start into 3P collecting until about 3-ish or so years ago, so I don't know the story of Huff. What caused the bad paint rubbing on the original and why is it so valued despite the QC problems?

The general consensus was the figure was not washed after molded and the paint did not adhere to the surface because of mold release. It being sought after is a matter of opinion but for me he is a damn near perfect representation of Huffer and his engineering is quite good.

Yeah, I might get not-MP Minibots one day...but the options there aren't as varied as the ones for the larger characters. Sadly none of the current or upcoming 3P Cliffjumpers scratch the itch for me :/

XTBs CJ certainly looks the part IMO but I'll have to pass on it. I've given XTB too many chances with their shoddy qc. The Boost & hatch set was the last straw.

That's more or less my issue too. Well, that, and the fact that it seems that no one 3P is putting concentrated focus on minibots for more than 2 or 3 here, 1 or 2 there, and virtually none of them match a consistent aesthetic. They're all just so... random. And to a lesser degree, the current options out there just aren't really that good (imo). So far, anyway.

Well, that, and I won't be happy until a Huffer, official or otherwise, can fit Hoist inside for show-accuracy.

Yep. XTB's looked uggo and the BadCube Huff redo doesn't look as good, or so 50% seem to think according to a TFW poll taken. I have v1 Huff, and outside of the QC, I think it's BadCube/Cubex's best release to date. Nice transformation and looks great. The quality isn't what it should be, but it just sits on my shelf the same as all my other figures after about an hour or so of messing around with them when I get them...so he mostly still does the job. I've had a little bit of paint wear on one of his legs, but it hasn't gotten any worse just sitting there. If I were to repaint him and add some future to his leg sockets, he'd be all good.

It's awesome that you tracked one down! Seeing this guy (and his packaging, etc) reminds me of why I'm thankful I held onto mine. I'm sure the 2.0 version will be more sturdy and toon accurate, but I see nothing really and truly wrong with version 1.0. Both can stand side-by-side and I'll see which wins out over time.

Do think Badcube really went back to the drawing board with Huff 2.0 to make revisions based on fans' displeasure about prototype's looks or do you think they will release it as is?

Damn you got a good one! Congratulations. I looked all over for one of those at a reasonable price and failed. I can't stand v2 so I am sticking with my XTB versions.

Yeah, if they do a reissue, I might grab him. I've thought about getting Grump, so it'd be fun to have his fellow pessimist to go with him.
