Crossovers: Shouldn't it have Transformers characters?

I have a couple of the Crossovers figures. Both of them are Star Wars figures (Yoda and the Vader/Death Star).

To me, this concept would be a hell of a lot better if they were Transformers characters that were transforming into vehicles from Star Wars or Marvel. The Star Wars and Marvel characters just look goofy with their Transformers heads, with only a couple of exceptions.

I think I would have actually bought that expensive Millennium Falcon set if it transformed into Optimus Prime and Ultra Magnus. Maybe I wouldn't have regretted the Death Star purchase if it transformed into Megatron.

How about an X-Wing that could transform into Nightbeat? Just sayin'.

And while we're at it, Grimlock transforms into the Rancor.

I see where you're going, and I can't say I disagree... but the point of the Crossovers lines is that they are characters from other media (i.e. Star Wars, Marvel) that TRANSFORM. They're not supposed to be Transformer characters... that's what the TRANSFORMERS line of toys is for!

I'm aware, my point was that concept doesn't really work.

So what Marvel vehicles are there? The only ones I can think of are the Fantasticar, and whatever Punishers van is called.

Personally I just want a line of Transformers characters with Halo vehicles for alt modes.

You all know you'd buy Jazz/Warthog and Prowl/Rocket Warthog even if the vehicle modes were nearly identical :p

The X-Men have the Blackbird, Spider-Man has his infamous Spidermobile, Ghost Rider has his hellbike, Moon Knight has his wing thing.

There can't be a TF/Halo crossover, Id lose waaayyy to much money.

I would love seeing some TF/GI Joe crossovers. The new GI Joe AWE Striker would make a awesome Beachcomber. Seeing the new Rolling Thunder Prime just makes me really want an animated TF/GI Joe movie, along with toys as well.

More than likely, in the case of the Star Wars and Marvel stuff, it is a licensing issue.

But beyond that, the concept may not work for Transformers collectors (or even the other brands' collectors), but really, Hasbro isn't even TRYING to market that stuff to us.

These are kids items, and using the brand characters into vehicles from that brand just works better for kids from a marketing angle. That's why so many of the Star Wars vehicles get multiple "character versions". If a kid doesn't care for the Magna Guard, he might be willing to get it if it was Cad Bane.

Those Crossovers figures aren't part of the Transformers line, they're part of either the Star Wars line or Marvel line. That's why there aren't any that are Transformers characters.

Besides, I think we'd only get more bitching about those toys if they were TF characters. "zOMG this totally shud of been [blank] character!!!1!111"

I never really liked the actual concept of the Crossovers figures, the only reason I even bought the Wolverine one was so I could make it into a custom. Wolverine's head makes a surprisingly good generic TF head if you just modify it to have Grimlock's face.

Never bought any crossover figure but if they made a starscream x wing or a bee that turns into a sandhover I will buy it right away.

I'd just like to see more off-beat Transformers. I like the toaster, the biplane, the ZZTop car. Things I'd like to see:

    Model T Ford
Farm Tractor (30 years and not a single tractor - crazy)
    Combine
Backhoe Loader (there was a minicon, but I'm talking Deluxe at least)
    WWI tank
    Any WWII vehicle
Toilet (for my dad - he always jokes about that)
Any jet that actually looked like a jet from all sides. (*cough*yamato*cough*)
    Motorhome
Full-sized handheld objects (Camera, Cellphone, etc.)
    Steam Locomotive
    Quad
    Licensed Exotic cars

This was a complaint when they first released the SW/TF line. I can say I'd probably have more interest if they were TF characters. Oh and maybe if most of them didn't suck ass to begin with of course. I've bought WAY too many as impulse buys when nothing else was on the shelf. But thats a complaint for another thread...

I don't like the joint design of the crossovers. Almost every single one, Marvel or Star Wars, you have two options for the mid-thigh rotation: Legs straight forward, almost pigeon-toed - or legs at a 90 degree (45 each) angle. Plus hardly any of them are elegant.

The only one I've contemplated getting is the Yoda one, but only for the sheer "WTF" factor.

I very much like the idea in the original post. I love many of the properties that have gotten the Crossovers treatment but hate the look of all the robot ("mech"?) modes.

Optimus the X-Wing vs. Megatron the TIE Advanced? Yes, please.

The most logical crossovers without a doubt would have to be Joes. HasTak have done SW-TFs, Marvel & Disney - but no Joe crossovers? WTF? Hasn't it occured to HasTak that both TF & Joe collectors would buy them? That's a huge market. Come on HasTak! What are you waiting for?
