When Megatron was telling Optimus Prime to either keep him alive or end the furry, it seemed to me he was begging. This reminds me of TF:TM during Prime's and Megatron's final battle in Autobot City we all know the rest. So the question remains if it wasn't for the Decepticon's and Dreadwing's arrival, you think Prime would of finished Megatron?

Well considering what happend to Raf in One Shall Fall I'd say Optimus was pretty darn serious about shooting Megatron right there and now.

I think Megatron was playing mind games.

Megatron was screwed and he knew it, but even facing death, he had a chance to make Prime suffer, which is his primary goal. What better way to make Optimus suffer than to make him put aside his own morals and kill a helpless enemy?

The only thing that keeps Optimus going is the belief that he is better than Megatron. If he had killed Megatron while he was unarmed, Optimus would have proven that he is just as morally bankrupt as Megatron

Does that make sense, or am I just rambling?

This is eerily similar to Rock Bottom. I didn't get what Megatron was going for there, either, and I'm still trying to figure it out. However, I can tell you this much: They wouldn't have included Optimus's line about sparing harmless creatures earlier on if it didn't influence his decision right then.

It really looked to me that Optimus has stuck to his directive from "One Shall Fall" to outright kill Megatron whenever he gets the chance (and the attempt doesn't jeopardize the Autobots in some way). Obviously that was interrupted by the arrival of Dreadwing and those several Vehicons.

And I don't exactly understand Megatron's point of view on that situation, but he was pleased that Dreadwing disobeyed the order not to help him...by helping him. So if that hadn't occurred, maybe he would've tried to quickly contact Soundwave to open a GroundBridge back to the Nemesis or something.

Yup, Optimus was going to kill him but the writers decided to sidestep that action (for more than one reason) and forced him not to follow throw. Dotm proved that he could do it. And even Peter Cullen himself said that Optimus is the same.

I was wondering if I was the only person who thought about that scene in TF:TM.

No, I don't think that he would've killed him. Especially given what he said about not condoning the killing defenseless enemies.

Begging? No, he was challenging Prime to do it.

If DreadWing didn't arrive, we would have Megatron killed.
Regarding "RockBottom", Megatron knows pretty much about the true depth of Prime's oscillating "morals".

I think he would have. I also don't think the word 'defenseless' applies to Megatron. Ever.

    Whole different version of OP
As for the question, I think Optimus was planning to kill him. I could feel how much Optimus has had it with Megs toying around with the war since they first made contact in One Shall Fall/Rise
