    I've always hated G2 Megatron.

Too big, no articulation, and very crappy colours. What's worse is that he's not to scale with G2 Laser Prime.

Inspired by Botcon's pre-BW Megatron, I decided to use the Cybertron Defense Red Alert mold to create my custom G2 Laser Megatron. Fortunately enough, I had a loose Megatron head to use.

Turned out better than I anticipated. Unfortunately, I'm lazy so I used regular car spray paint, I can already see chipping at the joints.

I'll post some photos tomorrow of G2 Laser Prime Vs. G2 Laser Megatron.
<EDIT: No sleep tonight, lol, I've added more photos a few posts below, enjoy!>

Very very nice... though I don't know how I feel about the G1 head. The coloring is AWESOME though.

I agree, G1 Megatron's head sucks but it's the only one that is to scale with G2 Prime. The only other head I can think of is BW Megatron that would look better, but that's for my next kitbash...

Wow! I LOVE the fact that you actually used a G1 Megs head.

I'm not sure if it really matches the style of the rest of the figure, but somehow it's just great to see that old head again. Nice work! I have a spare CD Red Alert myself... it's tempting to do something similar now. Either Megatron or Onslaught I think...

I'm waiting for the TRU Beast Wars 2-pack (with the new japanese head re-molds) to be released in Canada (although, I have a sneaky suspicion we won't get them or I already missed out on them). I'm thinking of kitbashing a custom pre-BW Megatron out of the CD Red Alert mold (applying some silver and purple colours). The going prices on e-bay are outrageous for the botcon version ($250 USD plus!!!!)...

I just used some regular silver spray paint for cars ($5 CAD a can). I should've primed it first 'cause there's already some slight paint chipping (at the joints). I may disassemble it and re-paint it or just buy another CD Red Alert and paint it right and transfer the head. That way I've got both robot and vehicle mode...

What about Classics Megs? That head should be perfect.

But I totally dig the G1 head anyway, so whatever. :D

Thanks! The Classic Megs helmet doesn't divide into 3 components when unscrewed, unlike the G1 counterpart. I wanted the helmet to match the new silver body so I detached the face from the helmet and sparypainted all the body components, incl. the helmet, the same silver colour. The original silver to G1 Megs is more of a dull grey.

With Classics Megs, the task would've been more time-consuming (i.e. covering the face) and I don't have the heart to kitbash that awesome figure... BW Megs on the other hand is a different story, lol!

G2 Tank Megatron looks good beside G1 Powermaster Prime, same scale and articulation. Even the design aesthetics and bright colours match well...
