I saw some photos from Botcon '06 of some fella who created a custom Alternator Brawn out of Alt Hound and Rollbar parts. I figured it looked very cool and fairly easy to make for an amateur like moi!

The other motivation for me was that Brawn's one of my favourite G1 era characters. I highly doubt they'll ever make an Alternator, Binaltech, or Classics version of him. Anyways, check it out and let me know what you think of my first ever custom kitbash (not including Trailbreaker)...

He's about a head and a half shorter than other ALT's. IMO he fits perfectly in scale with the other ALTS and he also provides a good scale buffer between regular ALTS and Classics Bumblebee (who's too big for the Classics line).

No vehicle mode pics? Still it looks good.

Basically the same as Hound's, except for an orange front hood and large off-road tires and bumper grill. My camera's batteries are pretty much dead, I'll try to post some vehicle shots tomorrow. Thanks!

Just a thought, but wouldn't Alt Swindle's hood made for a more G1-coloured Brawn? Rollbar is reddish-orange isn't he? G1 Brawn had a lot of yellow on his front as I recall... (he was one of my first TFs).

Besides that, nicely done! I like the shortened the legs... in fact, I think I like them better than the normal Hound legs. Does he still transform? If so, how did you do it?

EDIT: heh heh... nevermind. I just realised what you did to the legs. Now I feel dumb... never realised that you could do that to the figure. Neat!

Now my Hound looks just a little more G1 with those blocky feet. :)

Not bad. Only thing that bugs me is the gold limbs on top and the silver on the bottom. But avery original kitbash.

That actually works really well, particularly the head. Good work.

    Nice job on that!

Never noticed how cool Classics Bumblebee looks with the Alts. Thinking about getting an extra now and touching him up for the Alt promotion. Thanks for the inspiration hehe

Thanks for the words of encouragement guys,
I'm working on another Brawn (identical to one already shown) so that I can have both a robot mode version and vehicle mode version side-by-side.

Should be done by this weekend, hopefully!

I'm also considering doing a Gears re-paint of this kitbash, I'm considering the same mold with a red, blue, and grey colour scheme which may potentially resemble the ol' sour puss... maybe another head sculpt would be warranted?

I agree. I was trying to minimize the amount of painting (and cost) on my part so I left the gold limbs untouched; although it would probably look better if the crotch was orange and the forearms were silver/grey (to match the hands and helmet)

In my opinion he's orange, but I had this same debate re: Sunstorm in the general discussion forum (and I was on the side that said he was more yellow as opposed to orange); it's all up to interpretation I guess, lol...
