A thread dedicated to the tricks and other things our lovable pets do.

My dog likes to sneak twinkies and sticks of butter out of the fridge and hump the tv when ever there is a dog show on. Especially scooby doo. My other dog likes to fake a broken foot. I also used to have a cat that knew how to use the toilet. Also. All of my cats except my latest one, love baths.

My cat has this trick that's called "Piss on the Curtains," which results in negative reinforcement and names like, "MotherF****r!"

Not sure if it can be considered a trick but usually whenever I'm feeling bummed, it's like my dog can sense something wrong. He'll always walk over to me, sit down, and put a single paw on my knee as if to say "I'm here for you".

TIL being awake for 30+ hours turns me into a softie.

Not really a trick, but whenever my dad handles one of my snakes, it craps all over him. Maybe it doesn't like him, or something? :lol

That's what I love about dogs. Whenever someone in my family is sick or unwell, then my dog will stay by them constantly until they are feeling better.

Three of my kids can read and write. If I can only get them to stop trashing the house when I leave... ;)

My rabbit runs around he house at lightspeed for no reason sometimes. Usually late at night. She'll bink a few times, then run across the room and around the carpet. After each run (she can only go so far across the room before meeting a wall) she turns around and stomps her foot.

    Little weirdo.

My fish jumped out of his bowl once.

My cat sits at the table sometimes when we eat and will try to open the gate in the hallway.

My dog is a Chiwinnie or Dachshund/Chihuahua and just LOVES to borrow and dig. Well I've noticed several mole holes in my yard and his attempt at trying to get to one. Today, while calling him in, he stops and actually motions for me to follow him. So I did and there, laying on the ground taking its last breaths was a mole. Little bugger actually did it.

Years back I had some tamed budgerigars that I'd let out of the cage to fly around. Once they had enough or were hungry they'd fly back to their cage and go inside if the cage door was left open. But one budgie, all on his own, figured out how to re-enter a closed cage from the outside. It would grab the cage door with his foot and and would just tug repeatedly until it popped out.

    Now that the party's started:
Thomas or Tomcat as he was known had a habit of running other cats up into the top of trees and would make them "walk the plank."

Honey, would stare at the wall, to the point she would make sure that you noticed she was doing it, by looking over her shoulder at you and then back at the wall. We took her to the Vet and the Doc said she was "neurotic."

Susie would comfort me when I cried or would cry with me.

Chloe eats fiddler crabs, WTF? I know...

Trinket's special ability is called "jealous assh*le."

And you're already familiar with Buddy's trick called "Piss on the Curtains."

I had a cat that was a natural killer. He was the sweetest and friendliest cat when inside, but turned into a killing machine once outside.
He was a pure black longhair with bright green eyes and fangs that stuck out from below his jaw, and was about 12-pounds.
In one summer, Gwenhwyvar killed every rabbit in the neighborhood, lots of various rodents, a few birds, a Ruffed Grouse (the state bird, making him a felon), and a possum.

I miss him. He died when I was in college. I cried without shame.

My Andy is an evil genius. He will open 20 ounce bottles if he is thirsty and the water is empty. He has opened peanut butter jars. He's managed to get silverware with food on it off of a counter 3 times his height.

As far as tricks go, anything I've tried to teach him, he has picked up. I'm to the point now where I don't want to teach him more so that he doesn't try world domination.
