I cooked up some crazy ideas for TF3. It's so crazy, most of it would have to be explained in the tie-in comics. Feel free to pick it apart, suggest massive changes, etc. Just don't get personal about it; it's not like I have any control over the franchise.

    Here goes:

Unicron, spawned of the Allspark, and brother of Primus. He is the end-all, be-all of malevolence. More a force of evil than anything. He was defeated by his brother Primus after they battled for the Allspark. Afterward, he drifted off into space, plotting to take possession of the Allspark. He waited for many a millennia, slowly restoring his power, slowly seducing anyone who came near him to do his bidding.

Swindle is a space thug, not the violent kind, but he's amassed a loyal army, mostly through bribery. He has a peculiar talent to "generate" new goods for sale. Nobody really knows how he does it, but his products are so good, nobody questions it. One particular group of mischievous pirates (Dinobots) also have a talent for traveling through space, pillaging civilized worlds of their resources, and bringing their hauls back to barter with Swindle.

Swindle's secret is that he is Unicron's bitch. Swindle isn't truly loyal, but continues to serve as his minion simply because Unicron has the power to convert mass into whatever he desires. With this power, he creates products for Swindle to sell. In exchange, Swindle has to use his business connections to gather intel about the location of the Allspark, the Autobots, and Primus. Unicron would do this himself, but apparently the Allspark is beyond the range of his sensors - it's simply too far for him to find on his own. It is also revealed that Unicron was the one who seduced The Fallen into taking control of the harvesters.

Somewhere along the way, the Dinobots became greedy, and substantially marked up their prices toward Swindle, while offering Wal-Mart prices to other customers. This began to drive customers away from Swindle, which, in turn, pissed off Unicron. Swindle quickly put a bounty on the Dinobots, and that's when they went into hyperdrive to GTFO.

The Dinobots crashed into a monster truck show, quickly scanned the surrounding trucks for alt modes, and high tailed out of there. They were in such a panic that they failed to realize their entrance and messy escape defeated the purpose of their alt modes. Soon, N.E.S.T. caught wind of their presence, and that's when things got sticky...

Also, Alpha Trion is Primus's protege, and has been laboring for thousands of years to reconstruct The Last Autobot (who is actually one of the Original 7 Primes). The Last Autobot's physical body isn't really needed (A3 couldn't have been using it anyway, because it's stuck inside that tomb in Egypt). It's more a matter of putting The Last Autobot's spark into a new body.

Also, the Dinobots weren't actually becoming greedy by their own choice. It was all a plan orchestrated by Elita-1 and Alpha Trion to infiltrate Swindle's operation. You see, the Dinobots are fiercely loyal to Elita-1, and failed to mention it to Swindle. This makes you wonder why Elita-1 would allow the Dinobots to pillage other civilizations, but maybe that's because she's got a little Blackarachnia in her. *hint hint*

    Man, I'm giddy.

:popcorn  No no. He needs to gather information about the whereabouts of the Allspark, and having someone with business connections facilitates this process.

Personally, I would love Grimlock to appear. I don't know why it would be so hard to make him a T Rex. He 'crashes' to Earth right into the Chicago Field Museum and in his haziness scans the T-Rex on display there.
So we get an alt mode thats all gears and hydraulics, etc inside, but has a cool outwardly skeletal look with all the bones replicated on Grimlock's exterior. Its not that hard to realise on film.
My only concern is that they'll do away with his misguided nobility and courage and turn him into a muscle bound bafoon for comic releif.
