Shame he won't separate the collection, so stuff in there I'd buy.

How can someone spend a lifetime amassing a collection like this, and yet be so clueless about collecting?

Anyone who has $1 million AND likes Transformers enough to drop it on collecting them will already HAVE most of this. And they certainly won't be trolling Craigslist!

His target is the serious collector, looking to fill in a few rare, hard to find gaps in his collection, and the starter collector looking to get a good 'core' going. The guy who wants his boxed mint Fort Max isn't going to be interested in a boxed mint Optimus Prime. The guy who needs a boxed Optimus isn't going to be ready to drop $1,000 on a Fort Max.

The only way he's going to sell this is to split it up. Maybe do themed lots... a 'starter' set of all the 84 cars, maybe pair up the citybots... but in one lot? It'll never sell. It's a good thing he's patient, because he's gonna be waiting forever.

This! and even if he does get some one to buy the whole thing he would be lucky to get $50,000 and probably less in this economy. Breaking it up would be a far better method of selling the collection.
