Anyone played Elsemi's sweet new emu? Holy smoke is this thing slick. And I'm running it on Parallels. 2D fighting is alive and well!

The newest version of MAME supports CPS3 as well, this is actually the first time I have ever played SFIII. :)

It's so simple but there's all kind of crazy tactics that go along with the gameplay. Sean isnt some watered down version of Ken (like Dan) and you can really kick the crap out of someone with a big character like Alex. The graphics are sick and Third Strike has one of the best soundtracks of any fighting game I've ever heard.

I still like 2nd Impact better, but that's me. 3rd strike is a great game too.

I could never get into the loungy jazz that Capcom seemed to use in all their later 2D fighters.

SF Alpha 3 for the win, my favorite SF title of all time. Puzzle Fighter coming second.

I much prefer the system in CvS2. It's my favourite.

My friends and I have spent a fair bit of time tossing DC controllers back and forth over Third Strike, though.

I've been waiting forever to play Red Earth/Warzard. The lack of an aspect ratio option in the emulator sucks though.

what kind of controller do you use to play street fighter on a computer? I've got a logitech one that's basically a ps2 controller, but have always used the big arcade sticks on my sega systems for playing sf games.

Google for NullDC. Its a decent DC emulator which does the job for CVS2, which is the next best thing since they were both pratically the same hardware. It doesen't have controller support yet thougth, so you'll need to use Joy2Key or xpadder to map your stick to the keyboard. You'll also need to go fishing for disc images since you can't read GDs with a CD or DVD drive.

Arcade Soul Calibur was on a PS1-based board rather Naomi, which is why the Dreamcast version is much better then the original. I can't tell you if NullDC can cut for that thougth, i've not tried it since 3D fighters don't do anything for me.

Any decent video driver will have an option to maintain 4:3 ratio on a 16:10 monitor when an appropriate resolution is asked for. Have a rummage around your advanced display settings and update if you haven't got it.

    Failing that, use MAME instead.

You can use pretty much anything that you can find a decent USB converter for, althougth I personally use a Japanese PS3 Virtua Stick and a PC X-Arcade which both work natively on PCs without software or adaptors.

That's actually an outstanding issue with Nvidia drivers (which is why I still have my CRT monitor hooked up as a secondary). I just don't get why the author didn't include a Force Aspect Ratio option for windowed mode.

Ah, I haden't noticed until you pointed it out. I'm whipping the last inches of life out of a 6600 since i'm replacing the entire machine soon and i've not had any new PC games recently to motivate me into a Forceware update.

I've been wondering about something. What's the best version of MAME, performance wise? I don't have the best PC, so some newer games don't work so smooth.

Go with Mame32. It's exactly the same as the normal version of Mame, but with a frontend built in.
