I couldn't resist.
For the record, I never hated Dreamwave.
I strongly dislike Pat Lee for everything he did, but I liked the DW comics more than the current IDW ones.
True. I should've been more specific and said Pat Lee.
Perspective and dull surprises aside, I always liked that picture. It's kind of cool now that we can recreate it with the actual figs. This is something I never though would happen, especially when that issue came out. Go Hasbro! ..and uh go Razerwire!
Yeah I must say that was one of my favorite covers in TF comics.
As much as Pat Lee screwed people over, I must say art wise that was one of my favorite times as far as TF comics go. It actually got me interested enough to buy the comics.
Never liked the UK TF art which is why I never picked up a single issue.
I'd love to recreate the Minispies cover if all the characters get the Classics/Generations treatment.
I should recreate the Sunstreaker and Sideswipe one as well as Inferno and Red Alert.
What other covers were there?
if it wasn't for all the squatting in that picture, it would actually be okay, if not really damn good.
Never understood all the squatting...
I always hated Pat Lee's art. Sometimes he comes REALLY close to something cool, but then he either starts destroying proportions, perspective, or everyone grabs their invisible chairs. Or he tries to have a character convey emotion.
BUT, I loved the Dreamwave ongoing. So much. I havent been that into a TF comic since.
Tea bagging the readers?
Anyway, pretty cool.
Are you sure it was Pat Lees art?, he has a habit of having other artists do all the backgrounds and breakdowns, then going in and cleaning it up and taking credit. Then not paying them.
But yea it's cool that we can do that with our figures now.
Needs moar physics defiance.
(Seriously. Look at where Prowl's feet are.)
Yeah. Lefty isn't attached. Either that, or he has like, four knees.
and oh man, I never noticed it before, but look where Inferno's waist is. Poor guy.
And that's the most awkward way to stand on tires, ever. Good job, Sideswipe.
The toys pull off these poses great, though! They can't break physics.
Not even IDW or pat lee related.
It's amazing how many more flagrant errors in perspective pop up when you compare the figure shots to the actual covers.
Yeah. I never really paid much attention to it but now it's just glaring to me.
Hah! This is turning out to be a pretty cool thread.
...despite razerwire stating it
Covers recreation thread are go!
Someone should try and copy those poses perfectly and in the same perspective, just to see how badly they have to position or mangle their figures to make it work.
I love how Inferno has one square forearm and one rectangular forearm.
Razerwire > Pat Lee
Sorry. SOMEone had to say it.
I love how HUMONGOUS Inferno's hand is, whereas his cannon arm manages to stay entirely behind Red Alert somehow, despite pointing forward.
Separate names with a comma.
