Cabbage Patch Kids: Don't Call Them the 'D' Word | AndersonCooper.com
Such weirdo's; they don't even transform?!?
Where are the black ones?
Seriously though, we might find this silly, but for them, it's just like our TF collecting hobby. You're right however, as non transforming collectibles make little sense when compared to the likes of Bumblebee.
What's up with the cabbage patch kids fascination recently?
5000? why couldnt it have been over 9000?
I see what you did there.
This section should be renamed to Cabbage Patch Kids Discussion. Totally.
The show My Crazy Obsession, anyone know if that's the show that is going to have the person with the Transformers collection? I thought it was originally going to be called My Collection Obsession.Maybe they just changed the name.I know it was going to be on TLC sometime this year.
Looking around my toy room and seeing the massive number of TF's and other lines I collect, I certainly have no room to talk about the amount of CPK dolls that this couple owns. However, I'm not taking my Powermaster Prime with me on a talk show and asking it to be miked. That actually is a little strange...
Their poor daughter has something in common with Candace Bergen, who had to deal with being called 'Charlie McCarthy's little sister'. For you youngins who don't know who Charlie McCarthy is, he's a very famous ventriloquist dummy.
Slappy's the only dummy in my life, and no. My post isn't a masturbation joke.
But the difference between them and us is that we don't treat our TFs like they are our real children. I may transform one a bit now and then, but I don't dress one up and take it out in public. I don't throw parties for them. I saw a clip about them on The Soup and they had a friend over with her own CPK dolls. They put them in a merry go round swing set and swung it around. They then remarked that the "kids" were being so quite on the swing. That is crazy. I Collect TFs yes. But I do not remark on how well behaved they are being. Collecting is fine. treating them like real people is crazy.
hm. damn. i must be a youngin' because i dont know either one of these characters. the only wooden doll character i know is howdy doody.
The creepy thing is that 2 years ago, through my job, I visited a home exactly like this. The whole house was decorated with nothing but dolls. They had to scoot some of them on the couch for me to sit. There were dolls placed at the dinner table, on the kitchen counters, by the fire place and all along the hallway.
Whats funny is that they own a 6000 sq ft house, which houses the collection. The owners live in a small trailer.
what an obesssion.
It makes sense to me that Kevin would get a microphone. He'd probably have more interesting things to say anyways.
Well, Slappy was basically an evil dummy from the Goosebumps series that was brought to life through black magic or something, at least that's what I think happened. There was also a TV show that ran for a while, but if you weren't into the books, then you probably wouldn't have remembered or even even heard of the character, and both of these were aimed at quite a young audience. I still have most of em tucked behind a bunch of stuffed animals that I'd actually forgotten about until yesterday. Now, I guess that last part about the audeince is pretty redundant considering we're posting on a board about Transformers, but it's not a big deal.
I probably should've just mentioned Chucky or Conky hah.
